Defect SummaryVehicle description: sedan and coupe model vehicles equipped with a bose audio system that had separate speaker amplifiers mounted behind the rear seat back. a transistor in the speaker amplifier could overheat.
Consequence SummaryThis overheating can result in smoke or the possibility of a fire.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the amplifier circuit boards. owner notification began march 26, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact acura at 1-800-382-2238.

 1992 acura legend. factory installed stereo amplifier caught fire. back seat and rear of the car partially destroyed. fire department had to put out the flames. acura still refusing to make it right, due to liability issues. *la

 Prior to recall notification, consumer experienced popping and clicking sounds from the speakers, therefore the audio system has been unusable since january 2001, consumer contacted the dealership and was informed that this region would not receive replacement parts until the end of the year, and she would be contacted when the parts are available.*yh
 Took vehicle to the dealership for the repair of the recall and was refused service because vehicle has a salvaged title.*ak
