| We opened this pe after becoming aware of allegations that my 2006-2008 aprilia scarabeo 500model motorscooters were stalling when the downstream hose from the fuel pump deteriorates and/or separates from the pump.this issue was also the subject of numerous web forum posts.our discussions with dealers indicated other subject vehicle owners had also experienced this problem.subsequently, piaggio decided to recall the subject vehicles to address the problem (08v-522).with that recall, this pe is closed. | ||||||

| I, along with others, own a 2007 aprilia scarabeo 500ie. shortly after purchasing this scooter the engine began to sputter and stall creating a potentially dangerous situation. the problem has been corrected but it should be known that this problem is serious and appears to be a problem on every single scooter produced. it is a simple fix but it is a grassroots known fact and movement to correct the problem. *tr | |||

| The aprilia scarabeo has a design flaw with the submersible fuel line. the problem is that the hose is held on by friction instead of clamps which over time causes pressure leaks which leads to stalling in traffic. the problem has been well known since 2006 at least. it is a relatively simple fix that only requires three inches of hose and two screw clamps, oh, and a qualified mech to do the work. i think aprilia should do a recall so we users can have this problem fixed before we get hurt or killed. *tr | |||

| After running for a couple hours in heat, the bike will stall anytime rpm's fall to idle speeds. there seems at these times to be a buildup of excess pressure in the fuel tank because removing the cap will cause an outward flow of air from the tank. occasionally this flow is strong enough to flip the fuel cap out of my hand as i remove it. leaving the cap not fully secured seems to prevent both the fuel starvation and the buildup of pressure. *tr | |||
