VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
09/23/2011
The vehicle according to the audi dealer has a bad automatic tcm transmission control module that causes the car to slip gears or not shift down when coming slowing down and then needing to accelerate. the vehicle will stay locked in 3rd gear and when pulling out on to the freeway or a busy street it makes it difficult to get up to speed. when parked on a slanted driveway or street the vehicle may not engage a gear once it has been selected and the car will roll down hill.

 1. on november 4th, i traveled early in the day from pittsburgh to altoona, pa using my cruise control often on the highways and roads. i returned to pittsburgh after work and i picked up my daughter at school around 5 pm. we drove and went to dinner. we drove and attended an event at 7:30 pm. 2. following the college admissions event around 9:00 pm, we drove several miles to our home. as we were leaving downtown pittsburgh, and one mile from our home, the car's accelerator pedal remained down on its own, pushing the car forward. i stood on the brake to stop the car as we came to a stop light. i took my foot off the brake and the accelerator pedal remained in the down position with the car accelerating on its own. i once again stopped the car by standing on the brake. i then tried to lift the pedal physically with my hand and foot, believing that would help. i also tried moving the mat. the car had been inspected two weeks earlier and the mat lock was not put back on. the car was moving on its own. i stopped the car by standing on the brake, put it in park and the engine revved very high and i quickly turned off the engine. this had never happened before in the nearly 2 year history of owning the car. for one mile, the car's accelerator was stuck to the floor of the vehicle. 3. in the morning, i called the dealership that services the car and had conducted the inspection two weeks earlier. i used my aaa service to tow the car into the dealership. the tow truck driver did start the car and the pedal was no longer stuck. the dealership was unable to recreate the event and returned my car in one week stating they had opened a file, contacted the manufacturer, and that i could come and take my car back and drive it. it appeared they drove it 35 miles in that time period. i am driving the car and i have not used my cruise control. i remain concerned for the safety of myself, my family and my community. i am not sure what i should do.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL - ACCELERATOR PEDAL

While commuting to work, the accelerator pedal on my 2004 audi a4 cabriolet stuck to the floor. at the time, i was driving approximately 35-40 mph. the pedal suddenly moved away from my foot, stuck to the floor, and my car started to rapidly increase in speed. not knowing exactly what was going on, i hit the brakes, to no avail. the engine was screaming as the rpms raced into the 7000s. i tried to jiggle the gas pedal free with my foot, but it was stuck and would not budge. the brakes, which i pressed on again with all my strength, would not overpower the engine. i threw the manaul transmission into park but that did not stop the car either. i finally turned the ignition off and the car came to a grinding halt in the middle of the street. the car was towed to the closet audi dealership, hoehn audi. they had the car for two weeks but told me since they were not able to recreate the problem and did not detect any malfunctions in the car's computer, there was nothing wrong with my car nor was there anything they could do for me. in fact, they tried to tell me that the accelerator may have gotten stuck under the floor mat. i told them that was not possible and that i was looking at the accelerator as i was trying to get it unstuck and there was no floor mat in the way. i also filed a complaint with audi's customer care advocates. my complaint was denied because the dealership did not find anything wrong with my car. i then took my car to the audi dealership where i leased the vehicle, miramar audi, for a second opinion. they, too, told me that they were not able to detect anything wrong with my car and that there was nothing more they could do for me. they told me that they believed audi corporate was involved but would not provide with the name of anyone at audi corporate with whom i could discuss the issue further. they also stated that they had three other audis in their service dept for the same problem.
