Dt*: the contact stated the cooling veins on the rotors were drilled through. four brake rotors were purchased for the vehicle on 3/9/2006. when the dealer of the rotors was notified, they determined the contact should not drive the vehicle because the breaks may fail. the dealer promised to the replace the rotors. when the manufacturer of the rotors was notified, they determined that they were not responsible for the production of the part because the rotors are counterfeit parts.

Continuing abs failure, i have had the abs repaired several times under warranty, but the abs system keeps failing. now music city dodge is telling me there is contamination in the system and every thing in the brake system needs to be replaced to the tune of $3000.00. i can't see how this is correct considering they are the only ones who have worked on the brakes.*jb

My original set of inner brake pads were 75% worn per dealer repair shop at 29,672 miles. the outer pads were fine. the rotors were approaching end of life. i had them replace the pads at this time. the dealer did not offer to cover them under warranty. at 30,945, 1273 miles later, i took the car back for another brake inspection. at this time they found that the rotors were rusted and pitted, not normal wear. they replaced the pads and the rotors under warranty (seems strange it wasn't warranty before?!?!?). now at 65k miles i took the car in for a brake inspection at a repair shop. they said the front pads and rotors were shot and they had about two weeks left of city driving left. my husband replaced both the pads and the rotors this weekend. the inner pads were worn down to the rivets that hold the pad to the mounting surface. the outer pads were hardly thinner than the brand new pads out of the box. so this leads me to believe that gm has an issue with the brake calipers not applying pressure evenly. i have seen complaints like this on this website referring to the same problem. *nm

Terrible squealing noise in belt area. dealer charged ~$250 for belt and tensioner replacement and noise was greatly reduced. several years later the noise returned and grew even worse. replaced the worn belt and noise was greatly reduced for about two weeks. after the noise returned, removed the belt and checked all pulleys - found no problems. replaced tensioner and idler pulleys anyway (~$20 each from dealer) and reinstalled belt. noise was reduced for about two days. took van to dealer who said that it was the tensioner and were surpised that it had lasted as long as it did. i purchased and installed a new alternator, power steering pump and tensioner. the noise was greatly reduced, but returned full force within a couple of days. in desperation i turned to belt dressing as a possible solution since i had cleaned all of the pulleys prior to belt reinstallation. when the belt dressing was sprayed on the tensioner pulley the sound disappeared for a few seconds, then returned. belt dressing had small or no effect when sprayed at other locations along the serpentine belt.
