Defect SummaryBmw is recalling certain model year 2004-2010 5-series, 6-series, and model year 2002-2008 7-series vehicles. a check valve of the brake vacuum pump may leak a small amount of lubricating oil. over time this could result in contamination of the brake booster.
Consequence SummaryPower assist braking performance could be adversely affected. in extreme cases there could be a complete loss of power assist braking. an unexpected reduction or loss in power braking assist may increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective SummaryBmw will notify owners and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. the safety recall began on november 24, 2010. owners may contact bmw at 1-800-525-7417.

 Tl* the contact owns a bmw 2004 545. the contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v446000 (service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum) yet the vacuum pump was still leaking. the dealer advised that the entire vacuum pump would need replacing. the contact called the manufacturer regarding the recall repair and they advised that they were unable to assist. the contact was not satisfied with the recall remedy and stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. the failure mileage was 93,570.

 Tl. the contact owns a bmw 2004 545. the contact stated after having the nhtsa campaign i.d. number 10v446000 ( service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum) the vacuum pump is still leaking on the vehicle. the contact pointed out the leaking vacuum pump and the dealer stated it needs to be replaced. the contact did not have the vacuum pump replaced and was able to drive the vehicle. the contact called the manufacturer regarding the recall repair and they stated there is nothing they can do. the contact is not satisfied with the remedy repair and stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive. the failure mileage was 93,570. jo

 It was a recall for brake fluid pump check valve oil leak, and they replaced vacuum hose, did not fixed fluid leak . fluid is still leaking a small amount.

 While driving at speeds of 45 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the brakes would not fully engage. the vehicle decreased in speed but would not stop. she was able to move the vehicle from the highway and engaged the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. mechanic advised the brake booster and vacuum had failed. millage 60,000.
