Defect SummaryBmw is recalling certain model year 2004-2010 5-series, model year 2004-2010 6-series, model year 2006-2010 m5, and model year 2007-2010 m6 vehicles. the insulated bulkhead connector for the positive battery cable may have been incorrectly attached to the trunk floor panel, which can lead to a loosening of the bolt connection. as it loosens, an increase in electrical resistance at this cable connection is possible and could cause the cable connection to overheat.
Consequence SummaryOverheating could lead to a fire, even while the vehicle is not in use. as a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the remedy has been made.
Corrective SummaryBmw will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and secure the battery bolt cable connection as necessary, free of charge. the safety recall began on april 30, 2012. owners may contact bmw customer relations and services at 1-800-525-7417.

 I have decided to contact you after reading the article on bmw recalling vehicles with defects. the reason is that its been 3 years that we are trying to get any reply ( in vain) from bmw group and bmw representative office here in georgia/tbilisi re: the bmw car that we have purchased back in 2007 model 650 ci. it was advertised as one of the most safest cars worldwide. in february 2007 we had an accident where the driver was severely injured and the passenger passed away immediately. as later the police report as well as independent experts report stated, the fatal accident could have been prevented if airbags opened (please see attached photos of the accident and of the person that passed away). as shown by the expertise, the vehicle had a factory defect, due to which the airbags did not function when the accident happened. we have learned later that this was not the single case, when the airbags of this particular cars did not open during the accidents. our lawyers have addressed bmw representative office here in georgia as well as bmw group for further investigations, but bmw has simply ignored us. they do not reply to our queries and ignore our calls. we have been desparate in the past few years searching for justice, the company silently denies its fault, which cased the death of a person - a father of 2 little girls of 2 and 4 years old.... i do hope that you will transfer this information to the relevant authorities or inform the larger public, so that people are aware of the luxury dangerous for life bmw m650 ci model cars

 Electric steering lock indicator light appears and states that if engine turned off it may not restart. so far it has always restarted. the dealer indicated that it may be due to needing a battery replacement, which could cause mixed signals being sent to computer. we replaced the battery, and the light didn't turn on for a couple of days, but now it is coming on again. the car has only

 This is a 2007 bmw m6 convertible. the door windows drop 1/2 when the doors are opened and they raise up 1/2 when the doors are closed in order to keep noise down. i live in new york. when the car is damp or wet from rain or snow and the temperature drops below freezing, the windows do not drop when the door is opened. hence, when you go to close the door, the window hits the roof and doesn't allow the door to fully close. the partially closed door is very dangerous. only when you warm up the car & then defrost the side windows does the window drop to allow the door to fully close & lock. this is deemed an environmental problem by bmw na in new jersey. this is the second bmw 6 series i have owned and both have same problem. *tr
