| The fuel gauge sensor has failed 4 times on two new bmw motorcycles(08, r1200gsa and 10, r1200rt. the bike ran out of fuel in traffic at highway speeds putting me in danger. my r1200rt has failed 3 times. bmw has know about this for years, still the problem exists. | |||

| Purchased new motorcycle from dealership. after approximately 200 miles of driving, fuel gauge indicated 1/4 tank remaining. on board computer indicated approximately 75 miles range remaining. no low fuel warning displayed. upon refueling, tank took nearly the specified maximum capacity (8.9 gal). i was extremely fortunate not to have run out of gas in a remote area. took vehicle to dealership and they confirmed inoperative fuel strip. replaced with new fuel strip. | |||
