| When shifting my 1999 z3 2.8 coupe i heard a squeaking sound from the rear hatch area and experienced rocking of the vehicle rear end. my mechanic says that the car's rear differential mount is cracked and the spot welds on the sub floor have failed. he say's i'm lucky the differential didn't fall off and cause a serious accident. a quick search of the internet forums shows this to be a common failure in z3's and a known design flaw in this vehicle. i don't understand why the government has not forced bmw to issue a recall. | |||
