| Defect Summary | On certain passenger vehicles, the connection of the safety belt buckle to the steel rope of the tensioner does not meet bmw specifications. in severe frontal crashes, this connection can detach. | |||||||||||||||

| Tl - the contact owns a 2003 bmw z4. the contact stated that the vehicle passenger side seat belt shoulder strap was loose and would not retract. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that seat belt buckle assembly was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included on recall nhtsa campaign id number: 03v032000 (seat belts:front:buckle assembly). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was unknown and current mileage was 44,000. pm | |||
