| On may 23rd, 2012, my rear tire, an avon storm st 2 ultra, size 170/60zr17, tin= dot at8g 10 4809, experienced a sudden full-circumferential delamination of part of the center steel cord accompanied by a rapid deflation of the tire while riding at speed. the tire was fitted to a 2009 buell xb12ss (430 lbs.), carrying only myself (160 lbs), and approximately 40 lbs of camping gear, and the tire has a load rating 72w. the tire had approximately 2700 miles in it and treat appears nearly new. when the cord delaminated it tore the rear cast aluminum license bracket/fender off and ripped up the rear seat and the luggage and embedded them with steel cord shrapnel. *tr | |||
