My car was experiencing an erratic, and harsh upshift when shifting from first, to second, and then to third gear.this problem was due to a faulty pressure control solenoid valve assembly. after investigating i found out that 17 different vehicles have this transmission with the same valve in it, that could have the same trouble.gm has a file on this problem, shtml file=901351

Bought 2000 buick century and like many other complaints on the list i have repaired the manifold, water pump, fuel filter at 83,000. i have experienced the whinning and hard shifting the entire time i owned the car. i had intermittent dash light failure which is real dangerous since you can't see the speedometer or anything on the dash. my brakes have failed to brake and i went out into traffic - luckily no accident and there was a median i could steer into! i haven't had a working gas guage for years. last night going 70 mph i felt 3 chugs and lost power. again luckily i was at a freeway exit and could coast off the freeway. so my 3 most expensive bills (and none of the problems have been solved -$1800. for brake calipers, rotors and pads. $1100 for wire set, manifold set, fuel filter and water pump. $350 for headlamp switch and dash light problems. i am putting no more money into this car and up until last night i was looking for a buick but never again. i didn't put the mileage down when these incidents happened because the symptoms are ongoing!!! it looks like 1000's of complaints have been ignored through the years and the brake issue as well as shutting down going 70 mph are both safety issues which should have been addressed in a recall many years ago!!! i am devastated by the facts i learned researching the computer last night. i am on a fixed income and now without a car too. what reports do i believe when shopping for a new car?????? down below where you date the incident luckily i can say no to all of the questions (but by the grace of god!)

Two hundred miles away from home i started having tansmission problems on my 2000 buick century, limited edition, with 33,000 miles on it. brought the car brand new and maintained it religiously. shifting was extremely harsh. did ok going 55 - 65 miles an hour on the freeway. non freeway driving it went back to harsh shifting, whining engine, slow acceleration. took it in to the dealer next am. was told my car was out of warranty, and that pressure control solenoid valve needed to be replaced to the tune of $750. after talking with the assistant service manager, they agreed to a 50-50 split. however, i feel gm is solely responsible. they were aware of this two years ago. fortunately, i wasn't stranded in the desert in 100 degrees temperature with my young grand children. it is my understanding that gm had issued a bulletin regarding this defective part. the pcs solenoids were made of a softer metal than the hole they ride in after a while they wear and start hanging up. the gm bulletin states, slips, harsh shift or grage shifts, launch shudders, flares, erratic shifts and intermittent concerns, dtc p1811 or po748 set (replace pressure control solenoid valve assembly) #00-07-30-002b-(02/19/2002). *ak

My buick has 90,000 miles on it. i had a problem with the car. the car was jumping into gear. the jumping started very very small in august 2002. today the jumping is very noticeable. after only driving it, they told me there was some internal transmission problems. then they hooked my car up to a diagnostic computer and told me the pressure in transmission was low. they told me they were not sure i would be able to drive safely to my next destination. i asked the representatives was the problem under warranty? the representatives said no. the powertrain had just gone out at 80 thousand miles. only 10 thousand miles ago. the representatives at sale auto mall encouraged me to go ahead and trade the car. they were sorry but the warranty had expired and they could not replace anything. i asked the representatives how much would it cost me to replace the transmission? they quoted me a price of about $3000. which would be for a rebuilt one gm would guarantee for 3 years or 50,000 miles. i drove away without letting them fix the car. my complaints are: 1.since i kept good service on my car, the car's transmission should have lasted longer than it has---trouble free. powertrain warranties usually last 5 years/ 100,000 miles not 8 years/80,000 miles. 2. when i purchased my buick, i was told by all buick commercials on tv all fluids, like the brake fluid, transmission fluid(dex-traniii), and antifreeze(dex-cool) are guaranteed for at least 100,000 miles. i get the oil changed regularly at every 3,000 miles. if overheated transmission fluid possibly helped cause this jumping transmission problem, why did general motors market such fluids, as i mentioned, were guaranteed for 100,000 miles? 3. transmissions should not be failing at 90,000 on a car that has been taken care of, that is only 3 years old. *nlm

I have a 2000 buick century. the transmission started to shift hard at 70000 miles in sept of 2001 and dealer replaced the pressure control solenoid that is located in the transmission. at 99000 miles june, 2005, the transmission started doing the same thing and the dealer could not find the problem. i spoke with the sales manager after threatening to go to the owner and the problem was the same solenoid problem. the shop foreman at cambron chevy/buick in tell city, in could replace the part for $575.00 because the warranty had expired. i contacted marama hanset-callies and informed her that i have had this problem in sept of 2001 and that the valve should not be going out. i since have discovered that there are 17-19 other complaints for the same problem. gm has not corrected the problem on the t65-e transmission. the dealer and hanset-callies have a very that's to bad attitude. *jb
