2000 buick century, power windows fell down.1st one, and could not get it back up. next day another fell down when i wasn't in car. took to dealer and they said a 3rd fell down by it's self. they charged me over $1,300.00,saying each window broke for no reason. a month later, the last window, which had no problem would not go down and still doesn't. no way did 4 windows break all at once.i think whatever controls the windows broke and they didn't fix it and cheated me. now i have the window on driver's side that will not go down. that makes all 4 power windows broken, one still unfixed. *tr

Wife went to work and window was up. when she returned the window had fallen inside the door. all windows regulators have failed once for each window. car only has 70,000 miles on it. drivers window failed twice. this last time was not under warranty and total was $622. the regulator has$1.00 thin plastic piece holding the cable ends that pull the window up and down. service manager explained the regulator was only good for about 6 years. *tr

Windshield wipers work and go through their cycles but do not park and instead stick straight up. this is a visibility hazard and well known by the dealership mechanics in this model century, yet as far as i know, there is no safety recall. i do not feel that i should have to pay for this repair. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 buick century. none of the rear seat belt buckles function. the rear driver and passenger side seat belt buckle assembly would not release. the middle seat belt buckle assembly has failed. normally, the contact gets some silicone and fiddles with the vehicle for thirty minutes before she can get the seat belt to loosen up and come out. the contact was not informed if nhtsa campaign id numbers 01v109000 and 00v228003 (seat belts) apply to her vin. in addition, all four window motors have been replaced, and the front window motors were replaced twice. currently, the rear passenger window is rolled down and will not roll back up. the current mileage was 81,786 and failure mileage was 4,000.

Tl*- the contact owns a 2000 buick century custom and complained about the following problems: the lower intake manifold gasket, the thermostat, and water pump. these components had to be replaced because the vehicle was overheating. the rear brake shoes and a leaking cylinder also had to be replaced. the rear drums, and the switch on the driver's side for the power windows where replaced due to possible fire concerns. in addition, the right outer tie rod end on the passenger's side wheel was loose and had to be repaired. since the vehicle was inherited in 2003 all the aforementioned failures had to be replaced or repaired starting in 2005. the contact spoke with the manufacturer, and they stated they would not reimburse the contact because there was no relationship established with the dealer since the vehicle was purchased. the current mileage was 74,442, and the failure mileage was 64,218.*ak the consumer has provided invoices of services and checked with gm to see if there was a recall on the gasket manifold, however she was informed no recall was issued for that part. update 05/10/07*tr

Automatic windows. several months ago the driver window quit working on my 2000 buick century. i had it replaced at a cost of around $400. within the last 45 days the two back windows and as of this weekend the front passenger window are not working. they slid down in the track and the buttons don't work. also within the last 45 days my husband 2001 malibu had a back window go out. it too slid down and the button doesn't bring it back up. that is a total of five windows not working. at that costs it is cheaper to tape them up than to take out a second mortgage to fix it. is there a recall on the motor and regulator assembly for these windows? *nm

When the rear windows of a buick century are wide open and the front windows closed, the car shakes violently, to the extent of causing panic. we tried first one window and then the other, finally both together, and the violent shaking continued. it would be impossible to drive this car even for a few minutes under these conditions. the salesman even took out a brand new car and it acted the same. i have asked friends who have a buick century to verify my description, and they all have the same reaction. when i called the manufacturer, i was told it was a design fault and basically told to live with it.

While driving an alamo rental car on july 21, 2000, on i-94 outside of minneapolis, minnesota, the left front window, driver's side, literally exploded in my ear. i was going approximately 60 - 65 mph and what occurred was literally an explosive decompression. the window glass shattered, most going out the window but some fragments entering inside the vehicle. i controlled the vehicle and steered it onto the shoulder where we stopped. because of the tremendous speeds of the other vehicles passing by, i quickly tried to push the excess glass that remained in the door to feel safe in driving the rest of the distance to the airport. we tried to contact the alamo emergency number - when my travelling companion contacted alamo and told them it was an emergency, she was told to hold on. she did so but was disconnected. we travelled to the aiport below speed limit since the left window was no longer there and there were fragments of glass that, at times, would blow inside . when we reached the alamo rental car agency, they appeared to be little concerned - they said they would contact the manufacturer to determine other similar occurrences. unfortunately, the manager of alamo tried to convince me that it was a rock that had struck the window and caused the problem. since i was driving the vehicle and felt the sudden decompression and explosive quality of what happened, i believe him to be wrong. thankfully, the glass did not blind me or prevent my controlling the vehicle. however, under different c ircumstances this event could have proven disastrous, not only to me and my passengers but to other vehicles on the road. i believe a complete investigation is warranted.

I own a 2000 buick century and have been having problems with my windshield wipers. they seem to have a mind of their own. they will go at whatever speed they want. they have progressively gotten worse, and are now at the point where they will completely stop but i can still hear the motor trying to run. i have tried to find out if there is a recall for this vehicle but am coming up blank. i am sure that i am not the only person with this problem.
