2001 buick lesabre limited 'dash mat' has separated and buckled in front of the steering wheel causing a visibility issue and is seems to continue to be separating towards the passenger side airbag - based on my online research it seems that this is a very common issue amongst 2000 - 2005 lesabre owners. i live in florida and am not sure if heat is a contributing factor,

2001 buick lasabre dash is peeling up between steering wheel and windshield. started peeling up within a few years of car being manufacturered. per local dealership, buick will not cover expense to repair. this has become a real safety issue as you can barely see over the dash as it is sticking up so high and i have concerns that the air bag will deploy on the passenger side as the dash continues to peel all the way across the dash. someone is going to get severely injured or killed if buick does not fix this factory defect. buick should issue a national recall to repair a defective dash.

2007 the right rear passenger window kept on going down on its own. had a mechanic rip out floor board and found a defective electrical harness, wire exposed causing ground out. he learned this from a gm mechanic who said it was a know issue. problem was fixed. 2009 now the same window went down. all windows except drivers will not function, automatic door locks will not work, and when i drive at nite i can see the lights on the passenger side door flicker on for about 10 seconds, again another electrical issue? *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2001 buick lesabre. while the front passenger side window was in the down position, the mechanism and motor failed. the window was unable to be closed. a repair shop replaced the window motor. a month later, while the rear driver's side window was in the down position, the contact could not roll it back up. the vehicle was not returned to the shop, but he believes that the same failure has recurred. through online research, the contact discovered numerous complaints for the same failure. she believes a recall should be issued. the current and failure mileages were 33,600.

Back rear window on drivers side of buick lasabel 2001 just dropped down without any warning or indication of any problems. i was told by mechanics and other individual who have buicks that this is a major problem with buicks and that this is not an odd occurrence. at the time of the incident i had to drive through the remains of a hurricane getting everything wet in the back. i managed to get paper and cardboard push up against both sides of the window while holding it up to keep it up till i was able to get it taped and fixed. this is a serious problem especially with individuals who may have small children. gm should advise owners of the problem and not let owners hear this from their dealers. additionally some sort of reimbursement should be made especially when gm is aware of this problem. *tr

2001 buick lesabre limited. left rear power window regulator failed to return window to a closed position. temperature outside the vehicle was 99 degrees f. could not secure vehicle. this problem seems to be prevalent among this family of gm vehicles. repair costs are exorbitant when the fault appears to be a small plastic bracket inside the window regulator. a simple repair kit is needed, rather than replacing the entire regulator. vehicle has less than 60,000 miles on, and windows are not rolled down that often. based on complaints i've seen on other web sites, i can expect to replace the other three regulators, with the cost approaching $2000 for all 4 regulator replacements. *tr

Power windows on 2001 buick lesabre keep failing. i go to roll a window down, i hear a crunching noise, and the window will not either go back up, or it goes halfway up and stops. i have replaced 3 windows to date on a car that only has 28,000 miles on it. it costs 400-600 to replace each window. i searched the internet and there have been a lot of complaints about the windows in the lesabres. gm needs to have a recall on this issue. *tr
01/30/20031
Power windows will not roll up and when pushed up continue to roll back down. this has been repaired several times. there is enough complaint about this defect that there should be a recall and the source of this problem should be solved instead of saying that it cannot be repaired to last. i think this is a disgrace and will not buy another gmc auto again. this should be reported to the government. here is what they say: buick power windows drop / broken power windows most buick cars, and in fact most other gm cars, have this defect. the power window mechanism breaks - usually cheap plastic parts break in the power window pulley assembly. gm dealers will only replace the entire assembly, to the tune of $450 per window. many, many buick owners have written to say they have had to replace most or all four power windows assemblies, and some even had to replace the same power window assembly multiple times. gm has not changed the design of the replacement parts, so once fixed by the dealer, the problem still exists. the best way to deal with the power window failures is to get the power window assembly from a salvage yard. a lot of people get sick & tired of replacing these again & again, & tape up the window permanently. currently there is no recall for the power windows, because it is not a safety issue (according to the nhtsa). so far, a class action lawsuit has not been filed. this could be a dangerous situation as my window has gone down when i am in the store etc. someone could easily get in the car or steal something out of it. i think this is indeed a safety hazard. also when going down the freeway and the window drops suddenly, it can be startling and could cause a wreck. *tr

The passenger side rear window regulator malfunctioned. my daughter was in her child seat and it was pouring rain. i had to pull over, manually pull the window up and from there i had to get a new window regulator online and install it myself. i've read about numerous complaints with the buick lesabre (mine is 2001) window regulators and apparently there's never been a recall. i have the records from the previous owner and sure enough she had at least one fixed also. *tr

I have a 2001 buick lasabre that i have had to replace the window regulator in two windows and now the third window is broken. in july 2006 the passenger side front window quit working, and in april 2007 the right rear passenger window quit working. each of these windows cost over $500 to repair. now the rear driver side window is broken and i am assuming the driver side front window will break if i do not get rid of the car soon. i am going to get a new car, but you can bet it will not be a gm. *tr

Like dozens of others reporting on carsurvey.org my 2001 (2000-2005) buick le sabre power windows are defective. a plastic part breaks requiring replacement of the entire window regulator assembly including motor. dealers charge $500 plus labor for each unit. i had a dealer replace the right rear window unit after the first time i used it. a loud crack upon activation and the window fell to the bottom of the door. six months later i had to replace the left rear window unit. it took hours to remove and replace it with detailed instructions i found online (so many others had this problem one person documented what you need to know including diagrams). after market parts are available online also. so far they are holding up (2 years). now my drivers door window has snapped but it did so while raising it the few inches it was open so it is closed and staying up for now. that makes three of the four windows. i'm sure the front passenger side will fail as well. gm should have recalled 2999-2005 buicks for these defective windows. you can easily find dozens of similar reported cases online. otherwise this is a fine, economical, reliable car. too bad the windows ruin the experience. *tr

Both rear windows failed to go up. one window broke last spring and the other broke shortly thereafter. we inquired from a local dealer the cost to have the regulators repaired and were told the price would be approx. $400 per window therefore we have not had them repaired. the front passenger window has recently begun to hesitate when operating it so we chose not to use the window fearing it would also become stuck in the down position. as of march 27 i began performing searches on the internet for similar complaints and learned this is a known and common problem with the 2001 buick lesabre. therefore i feel a recall should be issued and gm should replace the regulators free of charge. *tr

I own a 2001 buick lesabre that has 72000 miles on it. in the last 3 months both rear windows have fallen down while driving the car. we have no small children and the windows are used extremely infrequently. have researched this equipment failure on the internet and it is an ongoing problem that buick is aware of but fails to address. i did some research on edmunds. com and found that a bulletin (bulletin #3483 on jan 2001, item #85 on list) was sent out from general motors to??, i'm guessing dealerships, so they knew this was a problem even then... it states (as typed by them) visibility: power window devices and controls vehicle:2000 buick lesabre summary: power window inoperative, noisy or glass drops. (nhtsa item number- 100117398) adding insult to injury the cost to have this repaired is outrageous. $400.00 to $600.00 per window . the design of using a steel cable that is spooled around a thin plastic spool to raise and lower the window only guarantees 1 thing...certain failure of the part and a nice juicy profit on the repair. i do not know and have not heard of an accident being caused by this problem but the potential is high. i know i would definitely be distracted if my window suddenly fell while driving in the middle of a rain storm or any inclement weather. i would like to see buick/gm held accountable and see some financial recompense for knowingly releasing a subpar and defective part. *nm

All four of my window regulators failed over a period of 3 years. most of the windows were rarely used. these window regulator failures seem to be common in certain years and models of buick. the parts and labor to repair the regulators are very ridiculous. this should have been a recall item or at the very least parts should have been sold for much less. i repaired one of my regulators myself, but the part cost over $300. i learned from this site i can order the regulators on line for 20% of the part cost from buick. they are not hard to replace, but it is an aggravation that shouldn't be. *jb

This is the second posting that i have made in as little as 4 weeks regarding rear passenger side window regulator. i replaced the rear driver side window regulator approximately 4 weeks ago and now the rear passenger side rear regulator has fallen victim to the exact same problem. the part is without question defective in its design and use of plastic componentry. the dealership wants $450 to correct. i decided to fix myself, but would have spent close to $1,000 to correct to date. now i'm waiting on the fronts to break if not the replacements, because as far as i know the replacements are built the same way. of all the problems i have referred to the internet this is a problem that is very common among buick owners. something should be done to protect consumer in regards to this very poorly designed part. *nm

Rear left hand side window regulator has failed on our 2001 buick lesabre--we have researched and found that many other lesabre owners have had to repeatedly replace same window regulator (on all 4 and often more than once) and the cost is very high to do so. it is the opinion of all these owners and myself that a recall should be made by buick and that they are unfairly charging the consumer upwards of $400-$500 for the repair of something that is understood to be a defective (at the least poorly made) part!!*jb

My back right power window on my 2001 buick lesabre custom does not roll up. i have already replaced the back left window at a cost of $600-what a rip off by buick-this should be a recall-i have read 100's of comments regarding this same problem and buick takes no responsibility--this should be a recall on the cheap plastic parts used in these expensive priced cars! i never use the back windows-this is probably only the 8th time since 2001 that i have even rolled the window down. how can the dealer charge such an outrageous amount to repair when the part only costs $99.00? gm should be ashamed. i won't buy another buick. *jb

2001 buick lesabre (42k miles) the rear driver side window regulator and motor failed with the window in the down position. the dealership wanted to charge $330 for the part. i decided to fix on my own by ordering the part online for $100. i inspected the original and noted the use of plastic to drive the cable in the motor housing. this is obviously a serious design flaw - there is no way this will hold up to time and use. unless this is reviewed and addressed by this commission i will have to keep replacing with the same problematic parts. given the large number of complaints i believe this warrants a review. thanks. *jb

2001 buick lesabre, window regulator on front passenger and rear drivers side broke, causing window glass to drop rapidly. on inspection same piece broke on both, the top plastic guide for the regulator motor cable. installed an aftermarket part after finding out buick replaces regulator with identical faulty components. aftermarket has beefed up guide on regulator. both failures were caused by normal use. window glass cannot be secured after regulator failure without replacement. parts were exchanged during purchase of replacement. *jb

I found the rear driver's window opened on my 2001 buick lasabre and i tried to close using the electric controls - it would not close. i originally thought vandalism because i rarely use that window. i could pull the window up with my hands but it would slide down. i had no control of the window with electric controls. called my dealer noecker buick-pontiac inc who told me to fix the window the regulator (gm#15231245) needed to be replaced. the regulator cost me $301.80 plus tax (not including labor). i had it fixed on june 20, 2005. the mileage on my car that day was 50170 miles. two days ago on march 21, 2006 i found the passenger's rear window opened. the window was inoperable using the electric controls. i can slide the window up using my hands and duct tape it shut until i get the window repaired. the mileage on my car today is 57350 miles. my frustration is both rear windows are rarely used and both needed the regulator repaired. i just call noecher again and they are unaware of any recalls or special instruction from buick to help us owners in this situation. again, the person on the phone said most likely it would be the regulator but will not know for sure until they inspect the window. i anticipate another $439.99 bill coming (including parts, labor and taxes). i searched the internet including the nhtsa.dot.gov website and notice this window/regulator problem is common. i feel buick should compensate the owners of 2001 buick lasabre for the faulty regulators. *nm

Within a period of one month i had three window failures cause by a plastic part breaking leaving the windows in a down position and unable to raise them. it appears this is a very common problem and requires replacing the entire assembly at approximately $500 a window. the part should not be plastic and/ or should be sold as a separate piece not requiring the entire assembly. *jb

Buick lesabre 2001. power control for windows and doors. defect in the power control for windows. cannot get windows to go back up on right and left rear windows. was repaired 1 time in 2002 by dealership weisner buick. the problem was not corrected because it started doing it again. the car is out of warrenty now and i feel this is a defect that was with the car when purchased. there is something electronically wrong with the power window control and i do not feel that i should have to bear the expense of this. this is definately a defect in the car. *nm

Earlier today i reported problem with both my 2001 buick lesabre rear windows malfunctioning when regulators failed causing windows to drop open and stay that way. this is a very common problem and 21 or 29 owners of 2000-2001 lesabres in one online survey reported one or more windows dropping open. this is a child safety hazard, as the driver may be unaware that the rear window has dropped and a child may fall out. *nm

All four window regulators failed, and when the two rear regulators failed the windows dropped into open position and could not be raised. this exposed the passengers to public safety risks and the elements and at speed could distract a driver and cause an accident. at www.carsurvey.org, 21 out of 29 owners of 2000 & 2001 buick lesabres reported experiencing this problem with at least one and usually several windows! *nm

2001 buick lesabre experiencing problems with the power windows.*mr shortly after the 36-month warranty expired the rear power window would go down and not go back up. buick agreed to fix it free one time. they would not reimburse for the first window failure, which is very unfair as the window elevator mechanism clearly must have a design or manufacture defect. *bf *nm

The window regulator broke while attempting to roll the rear right window down. the regulator broke because the plastic spool that the steel cable goes around wears after a period of time. this could be avoided if the spool was made of metal. the consumer stated that the power window regulator on his vehicle was improperly designed causing early failure. *tc

Within a one week period, both of the power windows collapsed on my mother '01 buick lesabre. i had to manually pull up the glass and tape it in the up position. even so, the interior became very wet when it rained a couple of days later. two of my friends also own buicks, albeit century's, and they have also had the rear windows fall down within the past few months. at a cost of $500 per window to repair!*ak
