| Defect Summary | Gm is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 buick, lucerne; cadillac dts; hummer h2; model year 2008-2009 buick enclave; cadillac cts; model year 2007-2009 cadillac escalade, escalade esv, escalade ext; chevrolet avalanche, silverado, suburban, tahoe; gmc acadia, sierra, yukon, yukon xl; saturn outlook; and model year 2009 chevrolet traverse vehicles equipped with a heated washer fluid system (hwfs). a recall was implemented in 2008 to add a fuse to the control circuit harness to address the potential consequences of a printed circuit board (pcb) electrical short. however, there have been new reports of thermal incidents on hwfs modules after this improvement was installed. these incidents resulted from a new failure mode attributed to the device's thermal protection feature. the significance varies from minor distortion to considerable melting of the plastic around the hwfs fluid chamber. | |||||||||||||||

| The buick ws in my garage which is attached to the house, before going to bed i always open the door to the garage to be sure the garage door is down and the flag is inside. did so that night and all was normal. the next morning when i opened the door to the garage to put the big door up and the flag out the garage was very warm. no other indication of a problem, assumed he furnace had acted up. we took the car to have breakfast did notice the hood was very warm as if the car had been running (i do not have a sense of smell so did not smell an exhaust) fuel was very low ( i wondered if there was enough to get to a service station) filled he car had breakfast then came home not apparent problems. later that morning my wife use the car to go to an appointment when it started to miss, she pulled off the road and called aaa who towed the car to the nearest buick dealer. the car is there now, they had no yet determined the problem. | |||

| Our new 2009 buick lucerne accelerated out of control and the brakes would not stop the car it kept going faster finally we were able to change lanes and put the car in neutral still it was accelerating full and i though it would blow a rod the only way to stop it was the turn off the key | |||
