Tl-the contact owns a 2000 buick park avenue. the contact stated that when driving at 40-45 mph, all the lights on the instrument panel along with the headlights would suddenly turn off and then back on. the contact noticed the problem everytime he drove the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership but the dealer could not explain the failure after inspection. the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. the manufacturer had not been notified. the current mileage was approximately 78,500. the failure mileage was approximately 72,000-bk

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 buick park avenue. the contact stated that the computer that controls the entire vehicle has failed. the vehicle has shut off 32 times while driving 55 mph in heavy traffic. the warranty was expired; therefore, the manufacturer cannot assist. the dealer stated that the computer malfunctioned in the vehicle. the contact feels that this is a safety issue because a crash could have occurred. the current and failure mileages were 95,000.

My buick park avenue has 13k miles. while driving the instrument gauges (tach, speedometer) started to pulsate back and forth for 0 to their max. they eventually went to 0 and the other gauges stopped working as well. this has happened 4 times. the dealer does not know what the problem is and currently has the vehicle in the shop. he suggested that the entire instrument panel will need to be replaced and it will not be covered under warranty (because the car is more than 3 years old.) i noticed that this problem is identical to the problem stated in another complaint (reference # 8011746) i wish i knew what they did to correct that problem. i find it hard to believe that the entire instrument panel has to be replaced and not be covered under warranty. *jb

2000 buick park avenue. the engine started racing so bad that you have to apply the brakes to keep the auto under 60mph. the dealer said water got into the computer and shorted the pcm. it was replacedat a cost of 640.00. 30 days later it occured again. the dealer opened the computer area and water was again there. they said the pcm was bad and the wiring harness needs replacement with a new designed harness that won't let water in.this cost is 1700.00 this is obviously a design flaw that gm won't cover. the saftey issue is a major concern. please advise. *ak

Intermittently while driving all gauges go haywire. warning lights are flashing. also speedometer will read 18-22 mph less than driven. consumer used onstar, was told problem was a blown module under dash, driver information control. vehicle was taken to dealer 4 times, finally a wire was replaced with a heavier one. did not correct the problem.*ak the plastic engine balled up under the vehicle from wind resistance and failure to attach properly. three of the doors needed adjusting due to poor quality control. the left windshield wiper makes a slap/rap noise. the driver information center (dic) malfunctions which affects all of the dash lights and gauges. without warning all lights will flash, the tachometer/spedometer erratically bounces up and down, and the temperature and fuel gauge drops to zero. several attempts were made to repair but with no resolution. as of july 2002 the vehicle has been repaired. *jgthe palstic engine shield balled up under the vehicle |
