We received a safety notice of the possibility of driver side air bag deployment due to defective inflator in july of 2000. i contacted buick in december 2000 wondering why we had not heard anything about recall and was told 3 to 6 months more before repair would be available. they did replace the defective part with a new old part that had not suffered the degradation of time. this temporary replacement was/is to hold me over until the proper part becomes available. my complaint is the original letter stated the repair would be available in several months. i waited 6 months to be told 3 to 6 more months. what if i sell or trade this vehicle in does the manufacturer track this vehicle down through registration information or does the vehicle go unrepaired at a cost savings to the manufacturer? a response to my concerns would be appreciated. thank you.
