Defect SummaryOn certain sport utility vehicles, a structural support at the latch attachment in the rear liftgate may be inadequate to retain the latch to the liftgate in certain severe vehicle crash events.
Consequence SummaryIf the liftgate were to open in a vehicle crash, an occupant could be ejected from the vehicle resulting in increased risk of personal injury.
Corrective SummaryDealers will add structural reinforcements to the liftgate in the area adjoining the latch assembly. owner notification schedule began on june 21, 2004. owners should contact buick at 1-866-608-8080. this is an expansion to a previous recall (03v211).

 A very small amount of wind pushed the drivers side door(while in the open position) and screwed up the dor hinge. now (after closing the door) the door will not open. i went to the dealership where i purchased the vehicle. when i told them my problem the asked if i had a rendezvous or an aztec(they did not see my vehicle but it was obvious that this problem was happening alot with these models)quoted $1000.00 to repair. *ak

 Nhtsa campaign 04v150000; dodge issued a rear liftgate recall. the vehicle was included in the recall, but the problem still existed. *jb

 Lower hatchback latch loosened, and it would be hard for the consumer to close/open the hatchback. dealer was notified, but did not resolve the problem. *ak

 The rear hatch does not stay open. it is a big danger to kids, adults, etc. we can not use the rear of the vehicle at all because we are worried about it crashing down on someone - you need someone to hold it open while the other loads or unload items (eg groceries) in or out of it. very dangerous. *jb

 Transmission failure- replaced 12/04, wheel hub bearing failure-replaced 06/05, heating/ac problems since new 09/03, brake problems since new, window regulators replaced 2x's, hatch latch failure-multiple, parking brake failure 07/04-present, overheating 07/04-present

 The consumer was driving on the freeway at highway speed, when the vehicle was hit buy another vehicle on the passenger side rear quarter panel. the rear liftgate latch tore from the fiber glass liftgate. the liftgate opened and an 8 year old occupant was ejected from the vehicle. build date may 2003 attorney for client. *ph *scc *jb
