Defect SummaryThese vehicles fail to conform to fmvss no. 124, accelerator control systems. at low temperatures, excessive friction can occur in the accelerator pedal assembly.
Consequence SummaryConsequence of non-compliance: in the event of a failure of the trottle return spring, if there is excessive friction in the pedal assembly, the engine speed may not return to idle increasing the potential for a vehicle crash.
Corrective SummaryDealers will replace the accelerator pedal assembly.

 When releasing the cruise control level the vehicle will pick up more speed, consumer is unable to stop the vehicle either by turning the cruise control off or tapping the brakes. the vehicle keeps going at a high rate of speed. consumer is forced to overcome the speed, by using the brakes. dealer determined that the problem was caused by worn gears in the cruise control module, module was replaced at no cost. *ak *ml
