Odi evaluated general motors' (gm) data, conducted consumer interviews, inspected and tested my 2005-2007 gm minivans with regard to the alleged defect of a power sliding door (psd) opening while the vehicle is out of park.odi identified a high warranty claim rate.however, these claims are related to various problems associated with doors not properly opening or closing and not specifically to doors opening while driving.the condition of the psd reversing direction during the closing sequence is consistent with an obstruction of the door, or with improper alignment of the door, and this is addressed in gm technical service bulletin # 07-08-64-007 and bulletins # 07-08-64-007a through d.odi's evaluation of the psd system notes numerous safeguards to preclude both unintentional and intentional power opening of the psd while the vehicle is in motion.a safety-defect trend has not been identified at this time.accordingly, this investigation is closed.[see document file for additional information regarding this resume.]
PE07044GENERAL MOTORS CORP.08/16/200712/11/2007POWER SLIDING DOOR OPENING
Odi has received reports that the power sliding doors opened without command while the vehicle was in motion on model year 2005 and 2006 general motors minivans (chevrolet uplander/venture, pontiac montana sv6/montana, buick terraza, and saturn relay).some reports indicate that the door may not have been closed and latched before driving away causing the door to reverse (open) at low vehicle speeds.however, other reports indicate that the door was initially shut then opened after driving for several minutes and/or miles at vehicle speeds between 20 and 70 mph.odi has upgraded this preliminary evaluation to an engineering analysis (ea07-019) to further assess this issue.

It is probably a shorter list to list what we haven't had trouble with , but here goes. 1. the back power sliding doors will open and shut at will. driving down the road, parted in the grocery store parking lot, etc. the neighborhood kids regularly come over to tell me my doors are open. my husband almost missed a flight because he spent to much time trying to fight with the door to stay shut. they have replaced almost every part of the doors several times, but was told by the dealership that last time i took it in they didn't know what to do now. 2. door locks will lock and unlock at will. one day it locked my 1 year old and 3 year old in the van when it was 107. it locked them in from the time it took me to walk from the passenger side to the driver's side. it finally unlocked on its own after not quite 10 min. my children would be dead if it hadn't already been cooled on the inside, but they wouldn't have lasted much longer. the dealership states that they can't duplicate the problem and don't know what to do to correct. 3. noise in steering column. rack and pinion replaced, another repair done. the repairs last about 5 - 10k miles. 4. transmissions slips. they did a reset of something, but transmissions still slips, but the dealership states that the transmission is fine. 5. fuel gauge. it has always floated, was told that was how gm makes their gauges until i took it the last time to the dealership and now they state that it is a fuel sensor, but it is out of factory warranty and they never even looked at it before as they always told me that it was functioning as designed. *tr

Vehicle would not restart and left me and my family stranded 1.5 hours from home and was towed by dealer. once i got it back there were several other problems that i had faced before that were now occurring again. the sliding doors malfunctioned about every other day. the vehicle has given us trouble starting on two other occasions ,as well. these were not reported as we assumed that being a brand new vehicle that we must have left a light or something on. we knew that the problemwas with the vehicle and not our negligence. *ak
