Defect Summary | Certain vehicles equipped with v6 engines may have a condition where fuel is no longer supplied to the engine. this condition occurs without the illumination of the fuel level low indicator light or the warning chime. | |||||||||||||||
Consequence Summary | If the engine stops running, the operator will not be able to restart the vehicle which could increase the risk of a crash. | |||||||||||||||
Corrective Summary | Dealers will reprogram the electronic control module (ecm) with new software free of charge. owners were notified in december 2005 and asked to maintain at least 1/4 of a tank fuel level to avoid this condition until the parts are available. the parts are now available, owner renotification began on march 23, 2006. owners may contact cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. | |||||||||||||||

Fuel gauge indicates more fuel than what is in the tank. for example the fuel gauge reads 1/2 tank when there is only a few gallons in the tank. | |||

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. whenever the vehicle was driven at various speeds, the contact would hear a grinding noise. she took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the rear axles needed to be replaced. the mechanic only repaired the rear differential. the failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the mechanic. the dealer repaired the rear differential and the rear axles; however, the failure persisted. she returned to the dealer and was informed that the fuel filter and the module sensor center needed to be repaired. the vehicle is currently at the dealer awaiting repairs. the manufacturer has not been notified. the vin was unknown. the current mileage was 18,000 and failure mileage was 25,000. | |||

2006 cadillac cts with faulty brakes. consumer states that all the servicemen at the dealer completely ignored her when she got there for the repair on her vehicle. she believes the workers at the dealer are practicing racism/discrimination. *kb the rear view mirror was broken, the fuel gauge was fluctuating, the brake system, abs and traction control lights illuminated. the consumer stated when she turned into a parking space, a loud dragging noise was heard and felt. even though her foot was on the brake, the vehicle continued to roll, and growl. *jb updated 06/09/08 |
