Defect SummaryThe upper transaxle oil cooler hose can pull out of the crimped coupling at the transaxle end of the line assembly.
Consequence SummaryIn the event of separation of the coupling, an oil leak can occur which, when exposed to an ignition source, could result in an engine compartment fire.
Corrective SummaryDealers will install a new upper transaxle oil cooler line to the transaxle.

 Tl*the contact owns a 1993 cadillac deville. the vehicle has been burning and leaking a large amount of oil. the contact always noticed oil spots on the ground after the vehicle was parked. if the vehicle is driven for a while, smoke will appear from the bottom of the vehicle, rather than the hood. the failure has also caused the air conditioner to stop working. a warning indicator illuminated and read, stop.turn off engine. a mechanic inspected the vehicle and stated that the oil was coming from a line underneath the vehicle from an unspecified hose. the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 94v199000 (power train:axle assembly), although the failures were identical. the failure mileage was 85,000 and current mileage was 91,000.

 Tl*the contact owns a 1993 cadillac deville. occasionally, the contact smelled a strange odor and the vehicle began smoking and leaking transaxle fluid from the cooling line. he stated that he normally drives 1 or 2 miles, but after driving 60 miles between 55-60 mph, the smell, smoking, and leaking worsened. the vehicle has not been taken to the dealer. the dealer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 94v199000 (power train:axle assembly). the current mileage was 110,000 and failure mileage was 1,000.

 Consumer complaint regarding 1993 cadillac deville which was repaired with 9 defective brake part by mechanic. *kb after brake repair were made the consumer's vehicle shook severely. the vehicle was taken to cadillac and it was determined that midas used defective parts. the consumer claims the midas buys foreign parts that are defective and not test or approved by an outside source. the consumer had the defective brake parts in his possession. r/f inner joint axle bent. the dealer replaced the right front axle assembly. the engine mounts broke. *nm

 While driving , the vehicle began to smoke, the consumer pulled over and discovered oil was leaking from the engine block and the trans axle coolant hose was also leaking. the vehicle was towed to a dealer who refused to repair it, the dealer stated there were too many leaks in too many places. the consumer repaired the problems himself. the consumer stated the manufacturer should have taken responsibility for the repairs since there was a recall regarding the same year, make and model. *jb
