Defect SummaryVehicle description: passenger vehicles, hearse, and limousines. some of these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of fmvss no. 209, seat belt assemblies. these vehicles have seat belts that may not meet the 30-pound push button release effort requirement of the standard.
Consequence SummaryHigh release efforts could make it more difficult for a crash victim to release the belt and exit the vehicle.
Corrective SummaryDealers will inspect the seat belts and, if necessary, modify the latch plates or replace the retractor. dealers will also add snap on latch clips to eliminate the potential of inverted latch plate insertion. owner notification is being conducted in phases. the first phase began may 29, 2001, and the second phase began july 6, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact cadillac at 1-800-458-8006.

Consequence SummaryIn such a crash, this could result in an increase in injury for that occupant.
Corrective SummaryDealers will install a retainer kit in the driver and passenger safety belt pretensioner. owner notification began january 31, 2003. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact cadillac at 1-800-458-8006.

 The consumer received recall 02v227000 for safety belt in 01/03. since the notice was received the vehicle has been to the dealer 4 times but still hasn't obtained a remedy. twice the dealer advised the consumer that the parts were not available and two other times the dealer indicated they were too busy. the consumer had to drive the vehicle out of town although the vehicle was not repaired. *nlm

 Car was hit with speed about 45 to the right side, air bag did not deployed and the driver seatbelt broke. stated seat belt broke and at the buckle during the crash. will send photos to odi. the seat belt pretensioner recall was performed on the vehicle. cw

 Consumer was traveling on the highway and suddenley vehicle accelerated and took off in traffic, consumer had both feet on the brakes, the vehicle did not respond appropriately for brakes, vehicle was out of control. *ak consumer states that the drivers seat heater is inoperative, driver and passenger front seat belt buckles were out of position, and the passenger side plastic retainer was broke, while pulling into a parking space consumer lost all power steering, dealer replaced rack and pinion, engine is making a knocking noise, while accelerating vehicle started in third gear, which the gears seem to lock up internally, vehicle starts vibrating at approximately 50 mph, the right center dash a/c vent closes by it self, the night vision lens is cracked and the console holder and latch broke.*yd
