In a letter dated august 27, 2008, general motors corp. (gm) notified nhtsa that it will conduct a safety recall (nhtsa recall number 08v-441) to address a safety relateddefect that can result in engine compartment fire in approximately 850,000 vehicles equipped with a heated windshield washer fluid option.the subject vehicles of this investigation comprise over three-quarters of the recall population. according to gm, a short circuit on the printed circuit board for the windshield washer fluid heater module may overheat the control-circuit ground wire. this may cause other electrical features to malfunction, create an odor or cause smoke and in rare cases it may cause a fire.as a remedy, gm dealers will install a wire harness with an in-line fuse. in addition to the subject vehicles, several other gm models with the heated windshield washer fluid option are included in recall 08v-441: my 2006-2008 buick lucerne (manufactured august 2005 through november 2007); my 2008 buick enclave (manufactured february 2007 through april 2007); my 2006-2008 cadillac dts (manufactured may 2007 through november 2007); my 2007-2008 saturn outlook (manufactured august 2006 through april 2007); and my 2007-2008 gmc acadia (manufactured august 2006 through april 2007) vehicles.gm is instructing owners to take their vehicle to a dealer for service if they experience symptoms of windshield washer heater module short circuits. gm's recall resolves the safety defect concerns pursued by this investigation.this engineering analysis is closed.

I was driving down a 3 or 4 lanes, each way, road in orlando, florida at about 30 mph when it died. no warning or sputter, just died. it has happened off an on since that time. probably 10 or 12 times, as i am turning into my driveway, pulling up to a stop sign, or slowing to make a left turn in traffic. this is very dangerous when turning left and traffic headed toward you. the car dies instantly. it has always re-started so far. i now have 80,000 miles on the car, and i am afraid to drive on long trips. try to stay no farther away than about 100 miles. i have searched all sorts of forums as well as your site and there are many, many others with this problem. in fact my niece in missouri has one that has started doing it also. i have called cadilliac consumer complaint department twice in last 30 days, and they blow me off. they say we can not beleive what we read on the internet.. wow, why would people sit around wasting time making up stories?? i know mine and my niece's are very real. please help and thank you

This automobile has an oil leak that could cause a fire and general motors are repairing vehicles, but will not make a recall. these automobiles are cadillac, oldsmobile and buick models dating back to 1993 through 2008. a bulletin # 03-06-01-027 dated may 1, 2008 verified gm's knowledge of the problem. there is a faulty design between the motor and oil pan in these automobiles to cause them to leak so soon. please investigate this matter. updated 03/10/11 *bf

I have a periodic persistent stalling problem with my 2006 cadillac dts that the dealer has been unable to resolve from about 60,000 miles. the car sometimes just stalls out while at a red light or a stop. this is a dangerous situation with my 2006 cadillac dts. the dealer has been unable to resolve this issue since it began at about 60,000 miles. is this an unsafe manufacturer defect in these cars? *tr

Tl*- the contact stated that while driving about 2 months ago at a speed of 20-25 mph in a residential area, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated to a speed of 50 mph. the contact stated that the condition of the road and weather were both good. the contact s wasn't concerned at the time , but when a second failure occurred he thought he would report it. the most recent incident happened on 12/26/06 while driving 20 mph the vehicle accelerated to 40 mph and the driver had to apply the brakes with force stop the vehicle. the contact called on star for road side assistance and had vehicle towed to the dealership. the dealership informed the contact they were having it sent to another cadillac dealership to have them take a look at the vehicle. *ak updated 01/31/07. *jb

2006 cadillac dts surges while accelerator pedal is not depressed, rpm's get higher, shuts off without warning. *kb ***nar*** the vehicle has been taken to the dealer twice for testing. the manufacturer indicated that there was no fix for the problem. the technician at the dealer test drove the car and indicated that the vehicle was operating as designed. the vehicle would occasionally hesitate when slowing down to a stop. *nm
