My wife was driving her 2004 srx with only 70000 miles. she was traveling at 65 mph when the brakes suddenly started activating and the car swerved to the side almost causing an accident. the error message displayed was service stability on the console. after she told what had happened , i went on the internet and found that too many owners of 2004 srx experienced the same problem. the dealer ended up replacing the sensor on the steering column. from reading and experiencing this problem i wonder how long will it be before someone gets seriously hurt. i think this problem justifies looking into because it is occurring too many 2004 srx (edmunds.com has a lot of complaints). *tr

My cadillac srx (purchased 4/2/2004, mileage 34,599) suffered a complete hydraulic brake failure. this occurred in a parking lot, at low speed and there were no injuries or damage. the car was towed to the dealer who repaired the brakes under warranty. the dealer stated that both hydraulic circuits had failed and the only braking was the parking brake. the dealer also stated that this was the first time he had seen this type of failure on this type of vehicle. *jb

The consumer felt that the brake and gas pedal was designed too close together. the consumer foot gets stuck underneath the brake pedal. *jb. brake pedal is curved to the right-bringing it too close for people with wide shoes like me. also, firewall on right is very close to gas pedal so you cannot move your foot to the right to get more clearance. i feel this could cause a few seconds delay in reaching brake pedal in emergency, which could result un fatal accident.*ak
