| Brake line failure. abs system failure. light for abs and brake have been on and off since original purchase. dealers could not eliminate the problem. noticed rust on brake lines throughout. currently all brake lines are covered in rust and leaking just prior to the abs components on driver side middle frame rail. brake lines are brittle to the touch. currently the breaking system has no pressure. all fluid has leaked from the system. service requested by dealer for noisy and leaking transfer case. dealer applied grease to the drive shaft. problem not resolved. while driving in 4 wheel drive, the transfer case experienced a catastrophic failure. unit was extremely hot and the gears were ground out. to my knowledge gm is and was aware that the transfer case fluid pumps were wearing a hole in the case from the inside. now know as pump rub. dealers had opportunities to repair and or replace and failed to act to resolve the known damage. *tr | |||

| A 2001 chevrolet 2500k hd with allison 1000 transmission would slow down and eventually stop in heavy traffic on any highway. starting date of those incidents was in april 2001. in warranty there were several scary situations, by where we had been pulling an rv on interstate highways. only luck and some experience saved us from disaster. *ak | |||

| I own a 2001 chevrolet silverado 4x4 2500hd. i have complained about the transmission slipping out of gear and becoming neutral when stopping after a hot soak or city driving. after a delay it will re-engage, or if you gas it a little it will clunk into gear. the dealer has told me all along that nothing was wrong. he couldn't duplicate the problem. now at 75,000 miles, the transmission has manifested itself to an obvious state of crap. during a recent day of errands in 100+ degree day, the transmission was slipping out of gear at every red light. unacceptable. *nm | |||

| Complaint received via e-mail. i have a 2001 chevrolet 2500 hd with 44,000 miles on it, and just had to have power steering pump replaced for the same reason, a broken shaft. my daughter backed it out of my driveway, and with no warning, lost steering and brakes, and almost hit the telephone pole across the street. i have had so many problems with that truck since i have owned it. transmission had to be replaced, broken rocker arm in the engine, windshield wipers breaking, horn blowing fuses, u-joint had to be replaced.*ak | |||

| 2001 chevrolet 2500hd truck: in may of 2002 the transmission started leaking at the front seal because of the converter bolts being loose. on 1/28/04 the rear case busted and leaked out all the fluid as well. gm dealer says defective case. allison transmission says that gm has a vibration in the drivetrain of these trucks that causes their transmission to break. who do you believe? any suggestions? *jb | |||
