My 2006 durmax diesel 2500 truck has 3 transmission cooler lines that run from the transmission to the radiator. these hoses have aluminum pieces on each end and they leak oil at the joint where the aluminum joins a piece of rubber hose in the centre. they continuously leak transmission oil on the ground at this crimp join. the colder the weather, the worse these hoses leak. there appears to be a significant problem with these as detailed by doing a web search. i pulled in my garage from a trip and a few minutes later my wife saw smoke coming from the garage. i jumped back in and backed it out before it actually caught fire but upon inspection, the leaking transmission fluid from the lines had gotten on the exhaust and started to smoke. this is a serious issue that gm continues to ignore. someone will eventually lose significant life or property if this continues. the replacement lines started leaking in a mere couple of weeks.

2006 chevy silverado 2500hd has developed a transmission cooler line leak at the metallic coupler. vehicle only has less than 50k miles under light load conditions. never towed anything over 3klbs. i understand this is a very high fail item and even their improved lines are leaking as well. this should be a recall item and replaced at no cost to the customer. *tr
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

Front brake lines rusted badly on frame rail on two chevys we own

Defective metal in the brake rotors of a 2006 chevy 1500 hd caused rapid wear through of brake pads and a loss of braking capability (all four rotors). no other rust on the vehicle. no heavy towing and very limited exposure to salt. the metal is substandard and rusts from the inside out. it reached a point that a rough braking surface caused sanding of the pads so that the time between warning of brakes pads needing replacing from the chirp sensor and failure was < 1 day. failure greatly reduced braking and was a major safety hazzard. took rotors defective rotors to dealer who denied the issue. vehicle has 36k and is 4 years old. my mechanic tells me this issue is common. i am a mechanical engineer with a back ground in metals and can verify the porous nature of the metal and pitting corrosion. this problem will eventually kill someone.
SUSPENSION

The left rear shock absorber mount tore completely through and separated from the main axle housing. because the hydraulic brake line was mounted to the shock mount, when the mount failed, the shock absorber extended fully and ruptured the brake line to the left rear wheel. this resulted in a total loss of brakes while attempting to exit interstate highway 40 at 65 mph. at no time did the driver information center on the dash indicate a problem with the brakes. after using electric trailer brakes to slow and stop the vehicle combination, the vehicle was able to be moved to a parking area. upon shutting off the ignition, a notice came on the driver information center stating, service brakes soon. upon examination, the master brake reservoir was down to approximately 50%. the left rear shock absorber, the brake line and the shock mounting bracket were all hanging approximately 4 above the pavement. the trailer being hauled was less than 1/2 of the rated tow weight and the vehicle had been operated on the interstate highway system for almost 5 weeks with no offroad or heavy hauling. when temporary repairs were made at a wingfoot truck center, the mechanic who welded the shockmount back to the axle housing indicated that he had seen two failures at the same point in the past 6 months. he thought that one was a 2007 gmc 2500 hd and my 2500 hd chevrolet diesel. according to the service manager at lenlyall chevrolet in aurora, co there was no failure of the braking system proportioning valve because none was present in the hydro brake system installed on the vehicle. all other shock mounts were examined and found to be ok. . at this time gm is refusing to take any further action due to the fact that repairs were already temporarily made.

Bolt head is snapped off on the left exhaust manifold on the rear most bolt. i know of many others who have this same problem and i believe that their should be a recall on the defective bolts used in these vehicles.
