2006 chevy aveo - issue rear axle beam bushings failed at 65,000 miles. the failure allows the rear axle to have up to an inch of travel left to right. as you go down the road you can feel the back of the car shifting as you hit bumps in the road or simply by taking an exit ramp. i took it back to the dealer and they replaced the axel at half price. now 2 years later i am having the same issue and have been told i have to replace the axle for the second time. i am working with gm customer service.. i read on line this is a problem for most aveo owners. these are not old cars and this safety issue failure should be addressed by gm. *tr

Tires never last very long, may get 10,000 miles out of a set since we bought the car. car has been making alot of noise going over any little bump and we changed the shocks and one was bad, started around 90,000. it is still making some noise and the dealer said that the rear axle bushing is bad and would have to get a new rear axle $$$-$$$$. also the paint along the bottom of both doors on the outside on both sides had been starting to come off.

Tl*- the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet aveo with a current and failure mileage of 15,000 miles. the contact was hearing a crunching sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. the contact had the vehicle taken to the dealer, serpentine chevrolet , several times, but they could not find the cause of the problem. when the contact took the vehicle to the local mechanic they found that the rear axle was bent, which caused the coil spring to rub against the body of the vehicle. also, the mechanic stated that the bent axle could have happened at the time the vehicle was manufactured. the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer for repair, at which time, it was discovered that the front suspension system was loose as well. the dealer replaced the front sway bar, and the bushing, and tighten all the bolts. when the dealer test drove the vehicle after the repairs they found that the engine cradle needed to be replaced. *ak the consumer stated there was a squeaking noise coming from the front of the vehicle, the sway bar bushings and lower ball joints were replaced. updated 04/30/07. *jb

Front tires had uneven front tire wear. outside edge of front tires wore more quickly then inside edge. the problem started when car was new and alignments were performed. the alignments did not solve the issue. the original tires last less than 30,000 miles due to the problem. the tires would've last less time if not for frequent tire rotates. the problem was not solved until the dealer replaced the front strut mounts in about 2010. the problem seems to be reappearing.

I have a2006 chevrolet aveo. i noticed that the left side of the vehicle was sagging. i took the vehicle to the local dealer since the vehicle has just under 26,000 miles on it and it is still under warranty. the dealer said that the springs on the left side had to be changed. within a week the springs were replaced. when i took the vehicle home , one mile from the dealer, i noticed the next day that the vehicle was still sagging. i contacted the dealer and he said to bring the vehicle back in. this was done. after a day, i contacted the dealer and was told that the vehicle was 1/4 inch lower on the left side then the right. i was also told that the dealer checked another 06 vehicle and an 08 vehicle that they had on the property and found that the were also sagging. then then contacted gm and were told that the vehicle was with in specks. i was given the number for gm and i made a call to them. after an hour on the phone and two different people, i was told that the vehicle was within specks and there was nothing they could do for me. i was also told that if a recall were to come up re: my complaint, they would contact me . i was also give a complaint #71600676168. if you were to look at my vehicle from the rear you would also see that the vehicle is sagging to the extent that the naked eye can see it. i may not an engineer but the naked i can see the sag. i do know that when a vehicle sages to one side or the other, you change the center of gravity. at this point i feel the vehicle is a hazard on the road and under certain conditions could cause an accident. i also can not believe that i am the only owner of this type of vehicle who has made a complaint to gm. if you can be of help to me in this matter, please feel free to contact me. i am also looking in to the lemon law to see if i have a case. by the way i like the car, i just want it fixed and hope this problem dose not cause a problem to any other owner's. thank you *tr

We have a 2006 chevy aveo. it has a problem in the rear end, we were told it was a failure of the rear axle bearings and it allows the rear axle to move about one inch from left back to right, around corners and across bumps. we were told by our mechanic it would be over 800 dollars to fix, which we do not have. in addition, our mechanic stated this is a problem that should have initiated a massive recall. i cannot afford another car right now and am afraid that it will cause me to wreck.

2006 chevy aveo - issue rear axle beam bushings failed at 45,000 miles. the failure allows the rear axle to have up to an inch of travel left to right. as you go down the road you can feel the back of the car shifting as you hit bumps in the road or simply by taking an exit ramp. as the axle was shifted to on side when you hit a hard bump it would br metal to metal and would cause sparks under the car. by 49,000 miles it became undriveable as the smallest bump or turn would shift the axle. gm would not provide any assistance with this problem. i explained this is a safety issue and it fell on deaf ears. i have replaced the axle beam at a cost of $461.00 for the beam it self form gm as the gm oem part is the only part available, i put it myself - 6 hours of labor. will this fail again in another 40k miles. i read on line this is a problem for most aveo owners. these are not old cars and this safety issue failure should be addressed by gm. *tr
