| Tl-the contact owns a 1993 chevrolet blazer. the contact exited the parked vehicle and within moments the vehicle ignited into flames. there was no personal injury. the contact and neighbor extinguished the fire. a police report was not filed. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who detected faulty fuel injectors which resulted to an engine fire. the vehicle was declared as destroyed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. the failure mileage was 161,000. js | |||

| I over took care of this truck as i loved it so much. it now repulses me to look at it. i thought that maybe it was a lemon but my brother had one a year older that had the same engine problems with the radiator,alternator repairs fuel injection, roller cam, engine replacement @ 73,000 miles only he dumped his before the engine need replaced and no customer service from gm. the only way its like a rock is when it sinks in a lake! i called gm got a case #990448783 (8/9/99) but now it has a new engine it still sound like the alternator is going every time i have it looked at it cost $200.00 and they find some thing else. when i have the money to dump it i will and i will never own another gm product i'm now $5,600 into this but it will be my last gm truck or product. | |||

| Engine bearing failure: premature, chevrolet accepts no responsibility, no offer to help repair (probably linked to odi id's 717356,465597,837150,525624,811729, and 487859. ||| abs brake failure: occurred while attempting to avoid a collision. truck skidded for over 90 feet before striking curb and utility fixtures. gm denied any possibility that the brakes failed. gm offered no assistance to have brakes examined or repaired for defects. ||| cruise control - stopped working. ||| transfer case failure - truck tries to engage 4wd intermittently while driving (grinding noise). first trip to dealer, said that the problem was brakes ($400 later still grinding). 2nd time, problem found to be defective vacuum switch (damage occurred inside transfer case due to failure). 3rd time chevrolet recommends replacing engine for bearing failure before starting on the transfer case. ||| all cases, gm declined financial assistance. in the case of abs brake failure, gm reps did not want to talk to me or look at the problem. i am tired of dealing with chevrolet's customer no-service group!!!*ak | |||

| The following note was sent to chevy product support through their web site. the vehicle is a 1993 blazer, vin 1gncs13w7p2206418 - i recently had the electronic emission control valve (egr(?) fail in the open position, causing the vehicle to stall. i was not able to restart the engine. fortunately, i wasn't in traffic and could safely have the truck towed to my mechanic who replaced the defective valve. is the replacement of this part covered by a warranty or out of warranty special service arrangement? have the safety issues been addressed by a redesign of the valve or emission control system for this vehicle? this is very similar to the condition reported as odi id: 736343 & 736345.*ak | |||
