 Dt: while the contact's mother was driving at 30 mph the vehicle would not stop. it felt as though the cruise control activated. the vehicle accelerated to 55 mph. the vehicle ran into a house and went through it. when the vehicle came to a stop the engine was still running. a police report taken at the scene. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the tow truck driver looked under the hood, and found the throttle was stuck all the way forward. the vehicle has not been to any mechanic for repairs. *ak

 Brakes don't seem to work when it runs away with high engine revs, happens off and on. *ak

 Engine bearing failure: premature, chevrolet accepts no responsibility, no offer to help repair (probably linked to odi id's 717356,465597,837150,525624,811729, and 487859. ||| abs brake failure: occurred while attempting to avoid a collision. truck skidded for over 90 feet before striking curb and utility fixtures. gm denied any possibility that the brakes failed. gm offered no assistance to have brakes examined or repaired for defects. ||| cruise control - stopped working. ||| transfer case failure - truck tries to engage 4wd intermittently while driving (grinding noise). first trip to dealer, said that the problem was brakes ($400 later still grinding). 2nd time, problem found to be defective vacuum switch (damage occurred inside transfer case due to failure). 3rd time chevrolet recommends replacing engine for bearing failure before starting on the transfer case. ||| all cases, gm declined financial assistance. in the case of abs brake failure, gm reps did not want to talk to me or look at the problem. i am tired of dealing with chevrolet's customer no-service group!!!*ak

 The vehicle will ramdomly engage the cruise control, whether on or off. the vehicle pulls hard enough that driver has to stand on the brakes in order to shift into neutral i.e. burning rubber.

 Inside the throttle body fuel is leaking from the nylon fittings. vehicle would not start right away. have to keep trying a few times before catchting hold. *ak

 The abs brakes are subject to an intermittent failure problem. the brake pedal goes to the floor & fails to stop the vehicle right away. the stopping distance is extended. *ak dealer has replaced the master cylinder, vacuum control switch, cruise control vacuum hose, front brake pads, and rotors, consumer states there have been no further problems. *slc

 Vehicle was in the park position. consumer placed the vehicle from park into drive, and the vehicle accelerated. consumer depressed the brake pedal, vehicle continued to move, resulting in the vehicle running into a house. consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has replaced the transmission. *ak

 Accelerator pedal got stuck, vehicle hit the side of a building. *ak
 Poor alignment between brake and throttle pedal causes right foot to hit throttle upon heavy brake application. the spring tension on the throttle is relatively light, and many people may not notice that this is the cause of acceleration in crisis situations. could be a scenario in many unexplained acceleration accidents. *ak

 Dt: the contact stated while trying to make a u turn the cruise control activated by itself. she was trying to get out of traffic when cruise control failure caused the vehicle to crash into an apartment building. the tow truck driver said the throttle was fully engaged. the vehicle has not been inspected. *ak updated 11/30/2005 - *nm

 Egr valve would plug up with carbon. this condition occurred on five occasions, causing the erratic operation of the idle, which in turn, causeed loss of steering and brakes. dealer /manufacturer notified and refused to do repairs unless cost goes to consumer. also, informed consumer that corrections were done only on a one time basis. all other times it would be at consumer's expense. can nhtsa help in this matter. *ak

 Egr valve failure.engine check light came on . began to run rough/shaking/jerking.tried to stop car, but brakes failed .... had to really apply pressure to pedal before car would stop. *ak

 While driving car suddenly accelerated on its own at a speed of 60mph. when consumer tried to apply the brakes, and the car did not stop. manufacturer has been contacted, and said there was no record of this problem. *ak
