Defect Summary | Vehicle description: light duty pickup trucks, vans and motorhomes equipped with electronically fuel injected 6.5l diesel engine. this is not a safety recall in accordance with federal regulation part 573. however, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. the campaign will improve the overall driveability of these vehicles. | |||||||||||||||
Consequence Summary | Certain vehicles can exhibit some driveability concerns such as poor throttle response, stalling, misfire, poor hot or cold starting, extended cranking of a hot engine, or stalling after start. trucks with manualtransmissions can exhibit poor acceleration from start or could stall during deceleration. | |||||||||||||||
Corrective Summary | Dealers will install some recently developed enhancements which will improve the overall driveability of these vehicles. | |||||||||||||||

While driving vehicle would be missing/backfiring and blowing black smoke. went to emission control inspection, and vehicle didn't pass. also, fuel injection line in throttle body was a plastic line and it split. filled up fuel injection system with gasoline. if there was a spark, vehicle would catch on fire. in addition, replaced catalytic converter/o2 sensor/ radiator cap/ brake rotors, and throttle body air valve. however, vehicle was still exhibiting the same problem. contacted dealer . *ak | |||

I have replaced the egr valve 3 times on this vehicle. i am having trouble with the vehicle running rough. i was told i have alot of carbon buildup around the egr ports and this is breaking/flaking off. the dealer said they would have to take the cylinder heads and intake manifold gasket and submerge in a hot tank of acid to clean the carbon off these parts. the repair quote was $1600.00 and there was no quarantee how long this would take care of the problems i am having with this vehicle. | |||

When traveling at any speed the vehicle will cut of without prior warning. the vehicle has a diesel engine. consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has replaced the fuel injection pump with a rebuilt pump. *ak the dealer replaced the fuel injection pump with used part and the problem reoccured. the consumer had requested for new pump but the dealer did not accept it also, sevice the engine light does not appear when the vehicle stalls. *yh | |||

Egr valve makes car surge and die almost every year and we have to pay several hundred to change it out each time. ($50+ just to get the car checked by them so they can tell me its a code 32-bad egr then 2-3 hundred for part and labor). of course i stopped using the dealerships and went to a small business mechanic and cut $100 off that. the other problem is the fuel pump has given out twice but my son has fixed it each time for me. | |||

While on vacation engine stalled getting off exit. ran through intersection due to no breaks and sluggish steering. had egr valve replaced at local garage. same thing happend about 50 miles later. car was towed to chevrolet dealership, connected to computer system. we were told that chevrolet's fix for this was a new computer chip (prom). the valve has not failed since. this should be a recall item. if there had been anything at the intersection we drove though, someone could have been injured. not to mention this cost over $600.00 to diagnose and repair. | |||

Stalls about every half a mile. going on about 1 1/2 weeks. done quite a bit of research turning up many complaints about fuel pumps and egr valves. i don't have money for rebuilding my engine so i'd like to find out if there has been confirmed answer as to why these blazers are stalling. *jb | |||

Replaced spider injector once, replaced egr valve 4 times, replaced both exhaust manifolds. the service rep told me the egr valve replacement is a very common problem. i checked with a dealer and apparently there is no recall on the spider injector nor egr valves which to me is a very dangerous situation when driving and the motor starts surging and dying.*ak | |||

At 43,659 miles vehicle experienced an ongoing probelm with engine stalling due to carbon build up in egr valve. vehicle taken in, dealer would only clean valve, and problem would continue to reoccur . also, at 64,000 mile vehicle experienced a problem with starting. dealer notified ,informed consumer that problem was due to a fuel line failure. please feel free to provide any further details on this matter. *ak | |||
