| At speeds above 40 mph the 4 wheel drive had been engaging by self the past month, sometimes in low mode. very loud gear noises, shuddering, vibration & significant sudden decrease in speed. occurrence is dangerous at any point, but most critical when approaching a toll booth. an inexperienced driver could readily lose control of vehicle. latest incident (date given) so violent & can't disengage 4 wheel drive, the suv is parked until repaired. independent repair shop will examine, & hopefully repair at reasonable cost, the vehicle week of 8/1-5/05. *jb | |||
