Defect Summary	Vehicle description: light duty pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles, 2 and 4-wheel drive. solder joints near the wiring harness connector can crack causing the windshield wipers to work intermittently.
Consequence Summary	This condition can result in inoperative wipers, reducing a driver's visibility, and increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Corrective Summary	Dealers will replace the wiper motor circuit board and cover.
Notes	Owner notification began december 15, 1998.owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 or gmc at 1-800-462-8782.also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).

	Gurgling noise detected behind center console of vehicle at approx 60k miles. dealer did not find anything wrong. now at 84k miles, dealer telling me that i need to replace heater core, radiator, and associated components due to defective coolant (dex-cool). this coolant was originally used by chevrolet in 95 and 96 blazers and is now known to break down and result in mud-like substance. risk of over-heating is primary concern. i have found at least 10 other individuals on the internet with similar problems. this is not an isolated complaint. my main issue - chevy did not detect the problem early enough even though given opportunity and now i am faced with a potential safety hazard and $1200 repair. also, their coolant is know to be defective as per my conversation with 2 of their representatives. as a consumer, i do not feel as if i should pay for chevy's mistakes. i am looking to your organization for help in investigating this problem.

	Passenger side mirror fell off door while driving, and was hanging by the electrical wires. i am aware of another newer model blazer which had the same thing happen. i also have noticed several blazers in my area with no mirror on the passenger side door and have even seen both mirrors gone. currently i'm noticing the driver's side mirror beginning to shake while driving. i called the dealership to investigate and was told there were no recalls or recorded related incidents. that same person then told me a call just came in prior to mine asking about the same problem.*ak

	Abs braking problems. tt consumer experienced braking problems when go to apply brakes they will grab and there is some delay and lack of control this has happened on four different occasion in which two of the resulted in accidents, also rear windshield wiper was replaced, and rivets on the fan belt were replaced as part of a recall, also head rest has a split, and when engine is warm engine runs at 3000 rpm.*jb

	Consumer stated that while driving and without warning, the egr valve failed, which caused the brakes to fail. dealer notified. ak the mixing with the fuel was the biggest problem. (when there was carbon build up in the egr valve, it would leave it open and caused no vacuum hard pedal and brake failure. when it rained or was cold the truck ran rough. the service light came on when the vehicle had run rough more than once, noise was present and there was a smell of burnt wires and the ignition switch was replaced, the brake pedal seemed soft on more than one occasion and the master cylinder and other brake components were replaced to try and solve the problem, the cd player had not worked since the ignition switch was changed, the rear windshield wipers had become inoperative, a noise would occur when turning but was not duplicated, and the muffler tail pipe had fallen off and rusted due to carbon build-up. the egr valve was cleaned but the problem persisted. the mechanic stated that in order to perform a proper job, the excessive carbon build up in the upper and lower intake manifold which effected the egr pendel, and the 02 sensor could cause a problem with the exhaust system, catalytic converter, fuel pump, the brakes, etc. the brakes squeaked, there were no dash lights, no air conditioning, and no 4-wheel drive. the fuel injections needed to be checked, and there were two recall stickers on the engine. scc the rear wiper motor, fuel injectors and brakes were replaced. *jb

	Blazer was purchased in 1998, 1st problem in 1999-replaced mufflers.. 1999- replaced egr valve- 2000 replaced egr valve and catalytic con. & 2 oxygen sensors due to failure of egr valve...june 2000- another egr valve replaced & fuel injection system replaced- 2000 ; egr replaced and spark plugs and all wires replaced; 2001- need another egr valve -- all at cost to owner!!!!!!!!!!!!

	I have already made one report but since have had windshield wiper problem and dealership would do nothing and they failed and cause me to wreck my new engine that was put in 13,000 miles ago tore up...i had every rep from gmc on phone and customer service because dealership wouldnt warranty then after gmc rep came to dealership they called and told me to bring in i did and they found catalytic convertor in pieces and gaskets and clamps leaking they repaired and i picked iot up on 01/24/2001 at 7:30 am proceeded to work 50 miles from there and the engine lost all oil and caused vehicle to shut down...a man pulled me over thinking my truck was on fire....i am so mentally disturb i cannot function normally no more.....the gentlemen checked oil and said there was none in it......my truck has had numerous more problems...door controls dont work i put a new wind shield in it... my air conditioner broke after first motor....back in of truck rattles....my truck has not run proper since the day i bought it.. i have talk to everyone possible and no one will listen or help me....i have almost been killed many times ...i have paid for almost all of the problems plus missed work plus had to rent cars...and mentally distroyed....please someone talk to me....bill heard want lieten ..al garcia want listen...service people want listen...factory want listen....help please if nothing else talk to me about this...i know i probably dont make alot of since right now but my truck shutting down and almost one more time killing me i'm a little upset.....

	Had major dangerous problems since purchased new/ will not repair wiper blades very dangerous and want repair brakes said i had to have a letter from factory ive been caught in the rain and almost killed brake failure has almost killed me ther is alot more of problems i had with the vehicle while it was under warranty i paid for 2 of the egr problems and 2 of the batterties and brake job and a 3178.00 motor etc etc etc. *ak

	Lighting-headlights - while driving at night, my headlights (both low and highbeam) will go off altogether a few seconds after i switch to my highbeams. after emergency stopping due to lack of vision, it comes back on after sitting a few moments only to happen again and again. this is a very serious defect that almost caused a head on collision and my family to loose our lives. 2) parking brake - while parked in 4 wheel drive, motor off, on a close to flat surface, my blazer's emergency brake disengages and my vehicle has to be moved back into its paking place. electrical system:battery - battery goes dead if i leave my door open for 10 minutes to sweep out the inside. even after factory battery was replaced for the same reason. exhauste system: cvs valve replaced soon after driving off the showroom floor at dealership. brake:hydrolic anti-lock brake assembly: unable to stop vehicle while in 4 wheel drive causing a crash into guardrail in order to get stopped. brakes also fail when trying to come to a stop and running over a bump in the road...causes brakes to make a clicking noise and loose braking hold...have to reapply for vehicles brakes to work.

	On 8/31/99 i tried to put on my windshield wipers in a heavy rain storm and they did not work. i waited for a while and they finally started. i brought the car to my mechanic after an inspection they said it was the windshield wiper motor. they pull up a recall from chevy dated 9/98 for this same problem. i contact steve moore who look up my vin number and said that even though this was the exact thing as the recall called for, my vehicle was not in that vin batch. i find this hard to believe the exact same thing and they would do nothing about this. i have sent them a letter requesting a refund of the amount of repair and have had no response. what would have happen if i was with my 2 children it a heavy storm and these wipers just quit. i feel this is a real unjustice to anyone in my position. all i want is for them to pay for this repair. the recall number is 96043 - windshield wiper motor failures. please contact me with any information. thank you

	The windshied wipers fails to work properly. when in use, would be sometimey. causes driver to have poor visibility. the abs brakes would lock up when applied. would feel like they're sticking. causes extended stopping distance. vehicle is also leaking fuel from rear end pump shaft. the engine would roar & feels like its racing. will be taking vehicle to dealer to have all problems dealt with.

	We have had repeated problems with this vehicle from approximately 4000 and going forward. the first indication of problems with electrical was when the emergency flashers were used the first time and it blew the electrical system at approximately 4000 miles we had owned the blazer less than 6 months at this time. we have had service engine check light indicator problems repeatedly and was told every time but 1 that it was nothing and later we have problems that are conveniently not covered under the warranty any more. the soft plugs blew in the engine in 9-1999 and we were told by the garage that repaired this that he had seen this before ... the antifreeze used deteriorates the plugs and they eventually leak and the engine overheats. the gm dealer that we took the blazer to on this occasions for a second opinion 11-2000 --this dealer had another 1995 blazer in the shop at the same time with the exact same problem. i thought this was odd for a town of 25,000 people and of course the 800 line to gm customer services advised me that it wan't anything that could be covered. we also had the leather seat replaced on driver side 2 times but continue to have problems with leather splitting and of course this is not covered.. all we are able to get from gm is the answer no whenever we feel that something should be covered... we have put over 2000 .00 in repairs in the engine and wipers and fuel injection system in the past from 9-1999 thru 11 28 2000.... and the problems continues.. the service engine soon lifht comes on and the air bag light goes off and on and stay s on for long periods of time... and of course when i called last week on the air bag... lite it was. *ak

	Windshield wipers were working intermittently and then finally stopped working all together. i took the vehicle in to have it checked and they tried to fix it with a part and that didn't fix the problem. they then input my information into alldata and saw a recall for most 1995 blazers for the windshield wiper motor. unfortunately chevrolet is saying that it does not include my vin #. they say this particular recall starts with 103 and mine is 102. i would like to have this information updated to include my vehicle. i am getting my car fixed but would like to have a reimbursement happen at some point.*ak
