 Always smell fuel while driving replaced all fuel systems then all senors needed eplaced so i did that and now there telling me i have a electric promblems since buying this vehicle new i put over 6000.00 dollars into and i still have all the same problems mostly with the fuel system i still smell alot of fuel when driving and back firing and shutting off in the middle of driving i have all my reciepts from work done on the whole fuel system and ive looked up this kind of blazer and everyone who owned one has the same problems

 My 2000 blazer ls 2dr 4x4 has ipc problems. the ipc lights have gone out and do not illuminate the gauges, this is a safety hazard when driving. the abs and parking brake indicator lights go on and off. the parking brake sticks and wont release. due to the number of complaints, recalls, and service bulletins issued on these safety problems i think more should be done to hold the manufacturer responsible for repairing these defects. the first 11 digits of my vin match at least 2 other vehicles first 11 digits and yet chevy doesn't feel they should fix the issue with all blazers. i am concerned with the safety of my vehicle. *tr

 11/18/2009: smoke was coming from the steering column. spoke with a family member who works as a technician for pep boys. he believed the cause to be the multifunction switch. 11/20/2009: brake lights would not turn off even when the vehicle was turned off. they stayed on until they completely drained my battery. looked up recalls and found there was a recall on the multifunction switch: nhtsa action number: rq08001. 11/21/2009: called the gm number listed on the nhtsa recall form to ask for assistance with the cost of replacing the part. was refused assistance and given the following reasons: my particular vin was not one included in the recall. i didn't purchase my vehicle from a gm dealer. i purchased my vehicle used (there was only one previous owner). my vehicle has over 100,000 miles on it. i don't have a (proven) history of being a loyal gm owner. i don't have my repairs done at a gm dealer. the estimated cost of the multifunction switch itself is $200. that does not include labor. the repair needs to be done immediately as the vehicle is unable to be driven as is. *tr

 Go to vehicle, try to start, security lamp begins to flash. no start issue. have to wait for 10 minutes and try again, about 50% of the time is starts, other 50% you have to wait another 10 minutes and try again.... gm passlock system issue. is it the ignition, the bcm, the ecm....? *tr

 Smoke from steering column,after the smoke from the column the hazard lights and switch would not work, break lights would not work either. gm dealer replaced the multifunction switch @ a cost of $438.50 and said they never heard of this problem before. vehicle was recalled and was apparently fixed for the same reason 6 yrs ago. *tr

 I purchased my 2000 blazer in 6/20/02 from a chevy dealer in pa . i purchased the extended warranty . i have until 6/07 or100000 miles i have replaced the coil and distributor cap and rotor 5 times a new fuel pump a catalytic converter windshield washer motor and turn signal switch it has gotten to the point that i can't even sell it to anyone private and i can't afford to keep it . there has been electrical and computer issues shorts that melted the fuse box under the hood that melted the relay for the fuel pump. also there was a short that wiped the computer codes out and i had a rough time passing emission testing i am at the point the extended warranty does not want to spend any more on the vehicle. i have had the motor mounts replaced twice in 4 years. i have never been notified of any recalls orservice notices . i have had the vehicle serviced by licensed mechanics and had it serviced at the appropriate mileage required for the warranty. *nm

 Blinker sound contiunes when blinkers are not really on, it's annoying and an electrical problem, but could potentially cause an accident. many car repair shops have heard of this same problem on the same vehicle. *ak

 On five separate occasions the vehicle stalled while driving at any speed. the driver was able to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they were unable to duplicate the problem. *jb the engine shut down without any warning at any speed and while idling in park, the engine restarted. the problem could not be duplicated. the gas filter, ignition wiring, and the fuel pump was replaced but the vehicle was still experiencing the same problem. *sc *jb

 While driving 25 mph the transmission failed. the dealer was notified about 7 months ago but they could not duplicate or correct the problem. *ak the dealer was notified of the shruddering and slippage of the transmission at 23863. the front differential pinion seal leaked, the check light was replaced due to the malfunctioning switch, the brake light had become inoperative due to an open circuit, the heating seat was inoperative, there was a rattle in right front suspension, the transmission had no reverse, and there was hard shifting into the forward gears. *scc

 I bought the 2000 blazer used just over a year ago and have had nothing but problems. to begin, i replaced the alternator, fuel pump, and virtually all suspension components in the front end with just over 65,000 miles. on vacation during one of the hottest days of the year traveling home the blazer over heated and left my family and i stranded on a major interstate with no a/c for nearly an hour before getting towed to the worst chevrolet dealer in the country(richmond, va). we were forced to pay for a new radiator and miscellaneous parts totaling over $600. they said the coolant system was full of rust and the radiator was plugged and could not be reused. now i'm experiencing the service engine soon that will not go out. after numerous trips to the dealer that started with leaking oil cooler lines, they said that the crank sensor was going bad. i replaced it, still the light stays on. next they say there is a misfire in cylinder 2, i replace the plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. still the light stays on. all of these repairs within the first 14 months of owning this junk and it is not anywhere near being paid for. gm needs to fix these problems. i have spoke with other blazer owners and they too have experienced nothing but trouble. and the big 3 wonder why they are losing customers and market share. have they ever heard of quality? looks like i'm going foreign. *jb

 Owns a 2000 chevrolet blazer zr2 with 68000 miles. the heater blows cold air only. the alternator has been replaced at least twice. i replaced it once, and previous owner replaced it once . battery has been replaced at least twice. all ball joints replaced at least once to my knowledge. fuel gauge broke before 50000 miles. seat handle on passenger's side broken before 50000 miles. tailgate won't open. passenger side windshield wiper only moves half the time. that is all that i can recall right now.*ak

 I purchased my 2000 blazer ls 2dr 4x4 with 58000 miles. at speeds around 65-70, it vibrates pretty harshly. i have brand new tires, breaks, and my u-joints and bearings have been inspected and found to be fine. still have vibration. i have noticed via the internet that this is a known problem with blazer's and it is just a defect in the way the drivetrain was built. i feel that this problem should be investigated and repaired by gm. also at 58000 miles i had to replace the alternater. i spoke with the person who i bought the vehicle from and they said that they had replaced it once also, therefore this would be the 3rd alternater in under 60000 miles.

 I purchased my chevrolet blazer new at the end of 1999 and it has been in the shop so much i know all 15 of the mechanics by there first name. the battery has been replaced at least 3 times, the alternator has been changed 3 times, the automatic transmission has been replaces, the seat handles have been replaced more than once, the seat belts have been replaced from locking up, the front end has had work done to it and still is not fixed, the rear right speaker does not work, the fuel gauge has been replaced, the gas petal sticks i haft to clean the card at least every month, the heater core has been replaced 3 times and it still does not get hot. i was told that this was caused by the orange antifreeze and was told that chey would not warranty their 5 year antifreeze and the dealer told me that i needed a $500.00 engine flush that i could do my shelf for $10.00 but i was then told that the engine was corroded up inside and i would need a new motor and they would not pay for it even under warranty. i called gm complaint line and was told that they new of the problem and they could not offer me any help. the complaint line was a joke and a waste of my time. i will never buy another chevy this is my second vehicle. my first was a s10 and i had the same problems. *ak

 The 2000 chevy blazer is a mechanical and saftey nightmare! this vehicle was purchased brand new/lease and i have had problems from the beginning. the exhaust has never sounded normal; it has a preignition (rattle-like) noise, and i was recently told that the catalytic converter is bad. the alternator failed at approximately 12000 miles. the hazard lights failed in april 2002, and the brake lights failed shortly after. the steering problems include: clunking when turning to the left, a shift in the front end (feels like the front pass. side steering components are loose). the vehicle is almost impossible to control on freeway due to loose steering and inability to control on transitioning/uneven pavement. the dealer has replaced front pass-side tierod and stabilizer, and the steering wheel now has a 12-15degree, off-center, right list. cutter cheverolet of hawaii is now having us try to reproduce the problem(s), and trying everything they can to not accept that the vehicle is, in fact, a lemon! what does it take to prove that a vehicle is just not a good vehicle; does my family have to get injured or die to prove there is a problem! we are a gm-family(entitled to gm family discounts), and this is how we get treated. . .no acceptence of responsibility or pride/honesty in their product. i will never buy another gm product; ever! the dealership, gm factory, and gmac should rightfully accept responsibility and take the vehicle back. i have better things to pay $384.00 per month! japanese atomotive industry. . .here we come! ~ don schrader, pearl harbor, hawaii. *ak

 The fuel pump,line and tank are faulty at 35000 miles. i bought it as a used car from santa ana hyundai who agreed to fix the fuel pump but did not. the transmission is not changing gears properly, it would not start when i turned it off to get gas on 9-26-03, the left front end is popping with a loud noise,the brakes are not antilock brakes,it feels as if i am hitting metal when i stop hard,the panel lights would flicker, lights on dash board when flash when i had seatbelt on. i had a chevrolet dealership fix the minor things. the battery cable was loose and they oiled the joints to stop the squeak. the dealer refused to fix the fuel pump which is unsafe and demand i pay him money that is already above the price of this car. i am paying $14,000 plus for a 2000 chevrolet blazer with a faulty fuel pump.the door entry will not properly take in the key to open the door.the gauge meters were dancing back and forth and not properly reading the fuel.it was a rental car before i bought it so i had no real history of recalls or mechanical reports. *la

 Told by dealer's service dept. we have to pay approx. $ 800.00 to have the frequency part of security panic system replaced. vehicle is still under full warranty. the horn is constantly going off at various places. i have to disconnect the horn fuse in order to keep battery from being run down. what can be done about this?*ak

 I own a 2000 chevy blazer and when it rains the brakes go out the vehicle will not stop the pedal won't go to the floor and it when you try to push the breaks it makes a funny clicking kind of noise and the pedal just hops not letting you break. then when you take off after you stopped (by the emergency break)the back end slides sideways like the front breaks are locked up. i almost killed myself and my kids because i couldn't stop! that is extremely dangerous! it only happens when it rains or go through water. others with the same kind of vehicle said the had that problem as well. *nm

 I have multiple complaints, the gas gauge on my vehicle stop working and i ran out of gas in the middle of the street when i realized problem 2 the rear brake lights and hazard lights do not work. the other problem is the vehicle stalls, and when it finally take off, the car jerks and the driver seat moves/slides back from the hinges which caused me to not be able to reach my breaks and run into a curb. also the driver side door sticks and is difficult to open. lastly the wheel baring and ball joints have gone bad twice and the car has less then 75000 miles on it. i called gm customer service department and explained all of my concerns and was told they we not aware of any nationwide problem and there was nothing they could do except fix the hazard light malfunction. i researched on the net and found many many people complaining of the same concerns i have. *jb

 See nhtsa item# 623034. security lamp illuminates while driving and then the associated passlock security system either stalls out my engine while driving or causes a shut-down of my vehicle whereby the engine will not start for at least 10 minutes. this has happened late at night, at intersections, gas stations, etc. the amount of times i have had to wait for this security system to reset has become frustrating. i have done extensive research on this via respectable online forums, and there are many owners not just of the 2000 chevrolet blazer but of a number of vehicles in the entire gm family who have this same problem. we are all crying out for a recognition of this being a safety issue, not just an issue of inconvenience. failure to start and stalling are symptoms that are only going to lead in one direction. there are literally hundreds of posts on this issue if one goes to an online forum and searches under the terms security light or passlock within the gm context. i have been to my dealer numerous times, have attempted to work with chevrolet, and nothing seems to be getting resolved. i am under the impression that a mechanical solution to this problem does not exist, short of disabling the system altogether (which dealers are not allowed to do). i would welcome any further contact from nhtsa regarding this matter and would gladly go to the expense of photocopying and sending the binder of materials i have collected on this subject. if it will make a difference in preventing a future injury or death (if any have not already occurred), i am all for it. thank you for your time and efforts on behalf of auto safety. *tr

 Problems that are not saftey issues: air conditioning doesn't work; door hinge pin needs to be replaced; driver's window slips off track to the outside of the frame, resulting in the back side of the window cracked at least a 1/4 of an inch (was told by friendly chevrolet in springfield il that this is a design problem and can not be fixed; called chevrolet and was told to take it back to dealer and pay them to reevaluate the problem; ) safty issues: ball joints need to be replaced;gas gauge sending unit doesn't work;;differential is leaking and plug connected to this needs to be drilled out and rethreaded to find out how bad the leak is; windshield wiper on driver's side loose and flips off to the left of the windshield in heavy rain and snow; electrical harnass needs to be replaced; engine insolation pealing off under hood; engine light on continually; car stalls intermitantly(first time it happened, was told the engine had overheated); at every start up, engine stays in nuetral (has no excellerator power)then catches after about three minutes); work done: thermostat hoses replaced;distributor replaced;spark plug wires and spark plugs replaced; sepentine belt replaced; part between the axle and the u joints needed to be replaced; oil leak fixed;fuel injector replaced; i have no idea what will go wrong when; it's like playing russian rullett while driving; have rented vehicle twice; will also need to rent vehicle for cross country road trip next week; will not risk driving this car; (incident date: first incident-day estimated)

 4/8 i was driving the car and it just died out as if it was out of gas. there was still power to the radio/lights ect. the engine would crank but not kick over. the engine would not rev upon pressing the accelerator. it was taken to dlr chevy73 by gm roadside assistance. on 4/9, around 2:30pm i spoke w/ carolyn tirelli-service advisor, who at first said there was not word of the repair. then stated she saw the tec pulling the vehicle out of the service bay. she advised it appeared he was wrapping up the repair job. at 4pm service advisor steve lambrose called and advised the tec took the car out for a test drive. said tec saw a spark, smoke then car was engulfed in flames. tried to state tec had done no repair. contrary to what carolyn tirelli advised earlier. advised fire dept was called c. jay houck fire marshall camden county 856-374-6176. steve lambrose/svc advisor advised me to also call my insurance co. geico/barbara malanga-claims adjstr/fire 800-645-7550 x5647. dealer claims to not know what problem was at all. no findings. car smells like electrical fire. but original symptoms/failure seem more like fuel line problem. no prior failures or warnings. no warning lights, stall outs or any indication anything was wrong with the vehicle. i or any passengers could have been killed or seriously injured the way this occurred. car front end broken off, hood buckled from fire or firemen. /car a little over 1yr old. still warranteed. please help/advise.*ak
