| I bought the 2000 blazer used just over a year ago and have had nothing but problems. to begin, i replaced the alternator, fuel pump, and virtually all suspension components in the front end with just over 65,000 miles. on vacation during one of the hottest days of the year traveling home the blazer over heated and left my family and i stranded on a major interstate with no a/c for nearly an hour before getting towed to the worst chevrolet dealer in the country(richmond, va). we were forced to pay for a new radiator and miscellaneous parts totaling over $600. they said the coolant system was full of rust and the radiator was plugged and could not be reused. now i'm experiencing the service engine soon that will not go out. after numerous trips to the dealer that started with leaking oil cooler lines, they said that the crank sensor was going bad. i replaced it, still the light stays on. next they say there is a misfire in cylinder 2, i replace the plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. still the light stays on. all of these repairs within the first 14 months of owning this junk and it is not anywhere near being paid for. gm needs to fix these problems. i have spoke with other blazer owners and they too have experienced nothing but trouble. and the big 3 wonder why they are losing customers and market share. have they ever heard of quality? looks like i'm going foreign. *jb | |||

| I have a 2000 blazer lt with 128,000 miles that has had heating/cooling system problems for several years. had dex-cool in system which i monitored regularly to make sure has topped up. gm states dex-cool is maint free to 155,000 miles. when vehicle reached 100,000 miles, i began to loose heat. i noticed a crystal-like residue floating in coolant. drained, back flushed heater core and flushed system 3 times then added prestone (green) coolant. after about 10,000 miles began to loose heat again, repeated flush and fill. every year since, when colder weather sets in, the same problem shows up and i go through the same flush and fill procedure. dex-cool has left so much sludge throughout the system i can't get it all out and it continues to plug the system. i have replaced two water pumps, three thermostats and have spent hundreds of dollars just doing flush and fills. engine temp will be good for the first few weeks after a f & f then begins to run hot again with the smell of coolant in and around the vehicle. there are no visible leaks on the ground or on the block. all engine vacuums check ok. all other regular maint done when required. last f & f done 08-30-2009 and vehicle is starting to run hot already/again. *tr | |||

| My 2000 blazer ls zr2 has 68000 miles on it. around november 2005, when i needed my heater in the mornings, i noticed that it would not blow any hot air. i have had the cooling system flushed and replaced the thermostat and still have no heat. i can smell coolant every now and then while i am driving. so, i am led to believe that my heater core is leaking and or blocked. i have done some searching around the internet and have noticed that this is a common problem with blazer's and it is caused by the dex-cool cooling forming a sludge in the cooling system. i feel that gm should be responsible for my repairs, as they have known of this issue for years, yet still continue to manufacture vehicles with this type of coolant anyhow. *nm | |||

| Problem with the dex-cool system in my 2000 chev blazer---heater went out july 2004, was under extended warranty and heater core replaced, radiator was flushed at the same time. one year later vehicle over-heating again, no longer under ext warranty...paid $212 for the flush today and filed complaint w/ gm due to the obvious problem which they deny with dex-cool ( 8 states have class-action suits). was told by gm rep that the coolant system is a maintainence item and they could not assist or accept responsibility in the reapair cost. spoke with the gm dealership who argued my case, asked what maintainence required on my part, since the dex-cool maint schedule is 155k miles, maint free---my vehicle has 70k miles and second flush in 12 mo period. was told by dealership that nothing i could really do to maintain, just keep check on coolant level every oil change, and system could fail again at any time--no guaranteee and the dealership also argued with gm rep---that there is a problem with dex-cool antifreeze.......i paid the cost, but after purchasing gm products for the past 30 years, if i am faced with additional cost of an apparent defect by the manufacturer...i will go to another make of car---thank you for your time | |||

| I purchased my chevrolet blazer new at the end of 1999 and it has been in the shop so much i know all 15 of the mechanics by there first name. the battery has been replaced at least 3 times, the alternator has been changed 3 times, the automatic transmission has been replaces, the seat handles have been replaced more than once, the seat belts have been replaced from locking up, the front end has had work done to it and still is not fixed, the rear right speaker does not work, the fuel gauge has been replaced, the gas petal sticks i haft to clean the card at least every month, the heater core has been replaced 3 times and it still does not get hot. i was told that this was caused by the orange antifreeze and was told that chey would not warranty their 5 year antifreeze and the dealer told me that i needed a $500.00 engine flush that i could do my shelf for $10.00 but i was then told that the engine was corroded up inside and i would need a new motor and they would not pay for it even under warranty. i called gm complaint line and was told that they new of the problem and they could not offer me any help. the complaint line was a joke and a waste of my time. i will never buy another chevy this is my second vehicle. my first was a s10 and i had the same problems. *ak | |||

| Problems that are not saftey issues: air conditioning doesn't work; door hinge pin needs to be replaced; driver's window slips off track to the outside of the frame, resulting in the back side of the window cracked at least a 1/4 of an inch (was told by friendly chevrolet in springfield il that this is a design problem and can not be fixed; called chevrolet and was told to take it back to dealer and pay them to reevaluate the problem; ) safty issues: ball joints need to be replaced;gas gauge sending unit doesn't work;;differential is leaking and plug connected to this needs to be drilled out and rethreaded to find out how bad the leak is; windshield wiper on driver's side loose and flips off to the left of the windshield in heavy rain and snow; electrical harnass needs to be replaced; engine insolation pealing off under hood; engine light on continually; car stalls intermitantly(first time it happened, was told the engine had overheated); at every start up, engine stays in nuetral (has no excellerator power)then catches after about three minutes); work done: thermostat hoses replaced;distributor replaced;spark plug wires and spark plugs replaced; sepentine belt replaced; part between the axle and the u joints needed to be replaced; oil leak fixed;fuel injector replaced; i have no idea what will go wrong when; it's like playing russian rullett while driving; have rented vehicle twice; will also need to rent vehicle for cross country road trip next week; will not risk driving this car; (incident date: first incident-day estimated) | |||

| Blazer seeping oil from oil pan, will not fix only if i pay 75% due to 90 day warranty,and told if they would fix it i would only create more problems, it was also told by dealer and chevy that it is normal for year and mileage, i don't think so with 47,000 miles, when i owned a 97 chevy with 97,000 miles , no leaks but salesman knew of it 3 weeks after purchase when 30 day bumper to bumper existed,was at dealership july 6, 2006 for all items but chevy nor dealership documented it or the grease fittings, lube, check fluid levels like was suppose to do, salesman checked fluids for me after they neglected to do their job.. so chevy says can't go by salesman because he no longer works there, seeping oil from oil pan is not normal, i didn't receive a odometer paper on it or my trade in.. i feel they are doing me wrong and chevy is backing them up, i even gave salesman number and told them i have a note pad here of all that was to be done with pages after on note pad written on after that day and they won't listen. they never gave me correct mileage on it when i purchased the vehicle. *jb | |||

| Accelerator sticking. from standing start, accelerators pedal requires considerable pressure to move from resting position. as pedal is depressed, vehicle jumps forward before operator can remove pressure. complaints to dealer resulted in the estimate of a $100.00 charge to clean carbon from throttle body and apply a chemical treatment to help prevent further sticking. this should not be a maintenance item as it could result in uncontrolled acceleration, possible loss of control, and accident. dealer diagnosis was almost instantaneous so the problem must be a common one.*nm | |||

| The suspension on the vehicle...the control arm upper and lower ball joints and the sensors for the bas brakes all went at once...also the gasoline sensors in the vehicle..the gas amount never registers and the needle flips back and forth and i have researched similiar reports on the net and have found that all these issues are a major frequently occuring problem with the vehicles... i own a 2000 chevy blazer...i feel that the manufacturer of this vehicle should be fixing this problems...i have already paid for the ball joints and upper/lower arm and sensor to be fixed at a massive cost to me of over 1000.00 the vehicle is constantly having to have repairs done some of which are due to normal wear and tear but for all kinds of sensors to be going a truck is ridiculous..i am also as of a week ago experiencing problems with the door locks...the fuse for that equipment blows on a regualr basis..i have paid for vehicle diagnostics throught the portsmouth nh chevy dealer and they have found all kinds of other major problems with this vehicle..the cost of the vehicle was 18000 and by next year i will probably have spent $6-7000 trying to fix this vehicle. *ak | |||

| I purchased my 2000 blazer in 6/20/02 from a chevy dealer in pa . i purchased the extended warranty . i have until 6/07 or100000 miles i have replaced the coil and distributor cap and rotor 5 times a new fuel pump a catalytic converter windshield washer motor and turn signal switch it has gotten to the point that i can't even sell it to anyone private and i can't afford to keep it . there has been electrical and computer issues shorts that melted the fuse box under the hood that melted the relay for the fuel pump. also there was a short that wiped the computer codes out and i had a rough time passing emission testing i am at the point the extended warranty does not want to spend any more on the vehicle. i have had the motor mounts replaced twice in 4 years. i have never been notified of any recalls orservice notices . i have had the vehicle serviced by licensed mechanics and had it serviced at the appropriate mileage required for the warranty. *nm | |||

| The 2000 chevy blazer is a mechanical and saftey nightmare! this vehicle was purchased brand new/lease and i have had problems from the beginning. the exhaust has never sounded normal; it has a preignition (rattle-like) noise, and i was recently told that the catalytic converter is bad. the alternator failed at approximately 12000 miles. the hazard lights failed in april 2002, and the brake lights failed shortly after. the steering problems include: clunking when turning to the left, a shift in the front end (feels like the front pass. side steering components are loose). the vehicle is almost impossible to control on freeway due to loose steering and inability to control on transitioning/uneven pavement. the dealer has replaced front pass-side tierod and stabilizer, and the steering wheel now has a 12-15degree, off-center, right list. cutter cheverolet of hawaii is now having us try to reproduce the problem(s), and trying everything they can to not accept that the vehicle is, in fact, a lemon! what does it take to prove that a vehicle is just not a good vehicle; does my family have to get injured or die to prove there is a problem! we are a gm-family(entitled to gm family discounts), and this is how we get treated. . .no acceptence of responsibility or pride/honesty in their product. i will never buy another gm product; ever! the dealership, gm factory, and gmac should rightfully accept responsibility and take the vehicle back. i have better things to pay $384.00 per month! japanese atomotive industry. . .here we come! ~ don schrader, pearl harbor, hawaii. *ak | |||

| 2000 blazer transmission failed, cost $3000 to repair. left ball joint failed and replaced all $500, pitman arm, idler arm, tie rods right and left needed replacement. left front wheel bearing hub failed and was replaced, both $800. overheating due to dexcool leak at intake needed replacement. i have a $20,000 piece of junk sitting in my driveway.this was ongoing from earlier year models but no recalls for this year ,why no body died ? fuel gauge bounced. *ak | |||

| The handle that allows you to recline the seat broke off flushed with the seat, this happened to both the driver and passenger seats in june 2005. the hood will not pop up when the lever was pulled until one banged on the grill or the hood in certain spots, which just started in march of 2007. the gas mileage dropped from 20 mpg to 16 mpg within 6 months. the back glass stuck and was hard to open, started in 2006. when turning on the air conditioner (a/c ) the car had no power, i have to turn it off when accelerating on the interstate or on hills. if the cruise control was set it kicked off when the a/c was on. when i needed to stop quickly the brakes failed, and felt a grinding sensation through the pedal, but the mechanic changed the brakes and checked the rotors, but hasn't found any problem. suspected a defect somewhere in the brake system as of 2005. the fan kicked on all the time, even when the engine was cold, and in winter when first starting. one mechanic told me that in many blazers the catalytic converter broke off in the muffler, which had to be replaced. had been told this happened so much that most people left them off. too many other problems to mentioned. also, the horn worked only when it wanted to, problem in the steering wheel. *ak | |||
