| Tl*the contact owns a 1997 chevrolet c1500. the contact felt that his vehicle should be included in nhtsa campaign id number 03v159000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer). while driving at an unknown speed in the rain, the windshield wipers would not work. he pulled off the road and grabbed the wiper arm blade, which caused the windshield wipers to turn on and off. the current mileage was 114,000 and failure mileage was 100,000. updated 01-10-08. *kb updated 12/31/07 | |||

| Dt: consumer was driving in the rain july 7, 2005 when the windshield wipers on the vehicle failed. at first the wipers would not work at all, then when the consumer drove for about 20 minutes the wipers came back on. consumer is aware of a recall for the same problem, however manufacturer told the consumer that her vehicle was not included in the recall. nhtsa campaign id number 03v159000. consumer had the problem fixed at the dealer today, july 8, 2005, and paid $161.00 . the dealer is pohanka chevrolet in chantilly, va. consumer would like a refund for fixing the problem. the consumer wants her vehicle and others like hers included in the recall. consumer says that her husband just informed her that this happened to him about a year ago. the dealer told the consumer that the problem listed in recall is what they fixed on her vehicle.*ak | |||

| Windshield wipers will intermittently fail to operate when switched on regardless of speed or mode. this problem has gotten worse in the last week or two, and i am getting ready to take the truck to a trusted non-dealer repair facility to have the problem fixed. is this problem common with gm products (esp. chevy trucks) of that age? it is a safety-related issue. the date cited above is only the most recent of several failures.*ak | |||

| The windshield wipers on my 1997 chevrolet c-1500 pick-up truck function intermittently. at the first rain of the season, the wipers would not work. thirty minutes later, the wipers began working again. the wipers have failed to function on six separate occasions now. for an unexplainable reason, they resume working after waiting a period of time ranging from ten to thirty minutes. the truck cannot be driven when the wipers are not working. (safety issue and vehicle code violation) no repairs yet taken. rumor circulating that gm may recall the wiper circuitry board. *nm | |||

| I own a 1997 chevrolet c1500 pickup and a 1998 gmc yukon in which both vehicles are having problems with the windshield washer/wiper motors. the windshield wipers never work when i need them to. on several occasions my husband and i have had to pull off the road when it rains due to no visibility. it is extremely dangerous and i don't agree with the gm inspector who said it was not a safety issue. it is a potentially fatal defect in their product and i don't think i should be held responsible for fixing it. there have been recalls for earlier model vehicles, but mine were not included. something should be done about this. | |||

| The steering causes the truck to swerve out of driving lane. the fuel pump shut off in the middle of the hwy. with no warning. the windshield wiper motor would work intermitantly when ever it felt like, this same wiper motor is used on gmc trucks and has been recalled why hasn't it be rcalled on chevrolet trucks, it's the exact same part #. engine cooling lines leaked at oil cooler, dealer banner chevrolet changed oil pan gasket , rear oil crank seal and then oil pan gasket again to no avail, brought to bryan chevrolet which is another dealer and they fixed the leak turned out to be o ring on oil cooler housing. | |||
