| Took veh. in for headlight alignment. got into veh. to leave and the brake pedal went to the floorboard. mechanic said the brake line had rusted through. he check and said all lines were completely rusted and needed to be replaced. the veh. had to be towed to a chev. dealer to bleed the line. total cost including one caliper that was too rusted was $794.11. i had been traveling on the expressway moments prior to going to the service station. had i not stopped there when i did, i have no doubt serious injuries would have occurred as the brake line rusted through. *tr | |||

| Brakes abs, at low speeds under 40mph the brake pedal pulsates and there is a loud ratcheting noise. the viechicle stopping distance is three times the normal stopping distance.the dealer says this is normal. second contact and the dealer says this is normal. no accidents at this time. | |||

| This brake problem started about 2007 my antilock brakes will not let my truck stop at low speeds. it has caused me to hit gas pump baricades damageing my truck. it has caused many near misses at intersections. i am afraid to put my family in this truck. | |||

| While attempting to park my vehicle i began coming to a stop and was going to begin backing up, at this time, the abs kicked in and the truck lurched forward hitting a parked car. the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and there was no previous warning. if someone had been between my vehicle and the one hit, they could have been killed. the vehicle was towed from the lot to the dealer. was told to call customer service by the local dealership. the truck had 84000 miles and brakes had all been replaced 3 months earlier. i do not feel safe driving this truck now. *jb | |||

| 2000 chevrolet silverado 1500 pickup 12/30/05 i called to make an appointment for the abs recall. 12/31 the abs light on the dash came on. the dealer completed the recall work and stated the abs light was an active failure code in the computer and was not related to the recall. repair of this fault was estimated $1,400-1900. i have also paid to have the fuel gauge fixed. it went from empty to full at random and has been reported as a common problem but has not been recalled. *jb | |||

| Abs brakes start to chatter when brakes applied slowly and will not stop my 2000 chevy silverado. a friend has a 2003 silverado with 35000 miles and did the same thing. had to use emergency brake to stop. abs warning light does not indicate a problem. almost hit a parked car in front of me. dealer would not make repairs under warranty for my friend. my garage came up with a 150.00 worth of parts to fix mine. i have 76.000 miles on my 2000. *nm | |||

| Whenever i apply my brakes normally, the anti-lock brake system engages when the vehicle speed decreases to approximately 6 mph. this causes the brake pedel to lock and the vehicle continues forward until it rolls to a stop or it hits somthing. i have already hit several cars and rolled through many intersections. eventuly someone is going to get hurt. i have searched many websites and found this to be a very common problem caused by dirty wheel hub sensors due to a manufactures design flaw. the dealers often mis-diagnos or scam customers into new abs computers and other expensive solutions. the best solution is to pull the abs fuse for the abs control module but this makes the vehicle unable to pass state inspections. motor vehicles with this condition are a safety hazard and often unreported. prevention cannot be accomplished by normal owner maintainence and manufacturers should be held responsable. *ak | |||

| Almost on a daily basis, the brakes have failed. the dealership simply checks the drp operation and states that the truck is engaged as designed. these failed brakes have endangered the lives of passengers in this truck by running through red lights, when it should be stopping. | |||

| What is described with the brakes in the recall information is what happened to me yesterday 08/29/05 on interstate 69 here in indiana. i almost hit a semi truck in the rear in. i finally got my truck stopped by throwing it into park after nothing else worked. then i went to a repair shop and they charged me $264.00 for new pads and rotors on the rear wheels. *jb | |||

| This problem occurred last year, but i am just now reporting it looking at the recent recall of this same pickup. i own a 2000 half ton chevrolet pu 4x4. i noticed the anti-lock brakes weren't working very well at low speeds and made a noise before finally stopping the truck. it was getting noticeable at higher speeds as time went on. i took it to the car dealer where i bought the truck. not only did the anti-lock brake sensor need replacing, but so did all four rotors. they were rusted so badly that they were flaking away. this truck had only 14,000 miles on it even though it was a 2000. it was stored inside when not driven. gm agreed to pay for half of the repairs but not all. this was a safety issue, and i offered to take the dealer to a junk yard to show him that rotors don't rust like these were even at junk yards. i still have the rotors if your dept. would be interested in looking at them. i believe there is more to the story than gm was willing to tell me, especially noticing the recent recall of their trucks. | |||

| 1. brake rotors rusted from the inside. no way to turn them. had to replace. 2. anti-lock sensors rusted. almost caused me to crash. 3. please don't let them steer you away from the rotor problem. it's a lot bigger than the sensor problem. 3. i talked to gm about both problems. got no help. they let on like they didn't know of any problem with their brakes. i knew they lying. 4. please make sure tennessee is included and also the rotor problem. mine is a 2000 silverado. thanks | |||
