I own a 2003 c1500 chevrolet silverado which has approximately 57,000 miles on it. on three occasions in the last six weeks while driving on the interstate at posted speeds the speedometer has gone from approximate 65 mph, correct readout, to anywhere between 90-120 mph. after sitting for 12 to 36 hours the speedometer will read correctly. this was a serious safety issue which should be corrected by gm. this problem was so common that i have seen it discussed on the national news shows twice in the last week. *ak

Speedometer was jumping around speeds not indicated the proper speed if it worked at all.i feel it is a big safety issue not knowing the speed your going for the road conditions and when searching internet found that it is a continual problem that general motors still does nothing to fix for several years now and charges the owner a check out fee and several hundred dollors to put a new dash in vehicle.
