Defect SummaryThis is not a safety recall in accordance with federal regulation 573. however, it is deemed a safety improvement campaign by the agency. these vehicles were built with insufficient retention of the horn pad.
Consequence SummaryThe horn pad can separate from the steering wheel falling between the steering wheel spokes. the horn pad could become jammed between the steering wheel spokes and the turn signal lever, resulting in damage to the turn signal lever, horn pad, and horn wiring.
Corrective SummaryDealers will modify the horn pad retention clips, install horn pad retention brackets to the steering wheel, reinstall the horn pad and assure that the horn pad is properly retained.
NotesNote:general motors has decided to conduct a safety improvement campaign to modify the horn pad on these vehicles.owners can contact chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020.

 Horn pad and internal assembly fall off occasionally and continue to be loose. awaiting next defect....

 Abs fails every time activated, system cycles slowly, with uncontrollable lock and release of wheels. this has occured on a few occasions. 1 occasion resulted in an accident. engine/vehicle vibrates heavily when idling in gear. has done so since purchase, but has gotten progressively worse. horn pad has disloged and fallen between steering wheel spokes on several occasions, nearly resulting in accidents. driver's side seat latch does not retain seatback from travelling forward. it has always been this way. safety issue. air conditioner failed after about 9 months, with no prior use. after repair, it failed again within 3 months.

 The consumer has been experiencing problems with horn assembly. while driving their horn fell off. the manufacturer has not been contacted. the defects are described in recall number 96i001000. *ak

 Recall work performed on the horn pad, however has failed several times since repair work, horn pad separates from vehicle steering wheel.
 Recall # 961001000. when repairing horn the wiring on the horn was damaged. dealer wanted to charge owner for having the wiring replaced. horn pad is not working. *ak
