I own a 2002 chevrolet cavalier. i recently found out that the car was not made with the latch system specifically the lower anchors in the folds of the seat, so i can install a car seat. the car also does not come with the child locking mechanism in the 3 point lap and shoulder belt. at this point i am unable to use my vehicle to transport my 2 children who require car seats as there is no way to safely install the car seat. i called the chevy dealership who was unable to find this part (lower anchor or seatbelts with child locking mechanism). i called gm and they are unable to supply the parts and i have called aftermarket parts stores who are unable to find parts. a search of the internet i found other people with the same problem, but no solution. i feel this is very dangerous. i am the original owner of the car and i was never made aware of this problem. *tr

On above time and date, i was traveling down a street at 25 mph when i heard a loud popping sound come from my driver seat. it caused me to shift towards the passenger seat, causing me to briefly swerve on the road. fortunately, there were no other cars on the road at that time. since i was near my home, i then parked my car and inspected the seat. apparently, the backing of the seat (upper portion) and the spring assembly has snapped. visually, you can see the springs pushing out of the back. this is a brand new car with 575 miles, seats shouldn't just break like this. what would of happened if i were in an accident? i thought the nhtsa should be made aware of this problem before someone does get hurt.*ak

I was rear ended. i was at a full stop. my seat broke. i ended up in a reclining position. the accident scene investigator-police officer told me this was a defective part and that should not have happened.the emergency room doctor said i sustained more injury because the seat broke and if i was hit any harded, i could have been thrown out the back window even though i was wearing my seatbelt. i fear that others may end up injured even more seriously.*ak

This vehicle was involved in a collisin in which another vehicle hydroplaned head-on and then onto the rear driver side of this 4 door chevrolet cavalier. my daughter was in her booster seat that was anchored in the middle of the back seat. the upright part of the back seat was detached from the bracket which allowed all the luggage in the trunk to come forward. this then pushed the booster seat to the side with all the luggage up against her.*ak
