| The throttle body becomes extremely 'gunked up,' causing the engine to shut off if the rpms drop too fast. it happens most often when coming up to stop lights. however, the most dangerous time (which caused me to get rear ended due to not being able to ammediately speed up) is when i switch lanes on the highway. i let my car slow down by removing my foot from the pedal, switch lanes, and when i put my foot on the pedal, i don't speed up. why?? because the engine shut off when i first removed my foot from the pedal and let the rpms drop! | |||

| The power locks suddenly do not work as usual. usually, all the doors are locked when i drive the car while they are unlocked when i park the car. now, there is no response of each door when i shift the car to park or drive. i hear some tick sound when i push the brake, which is not there when the locks work well. sometimes it is very hard to move the power steering when i park the car. | |||

| My door locks will not always work.... the doors will just be locked wether your inside or outside of the car. the locks show the doors are unlocked but when you pull the handle it feels as if it isnt attached to anything. after punching the door around the handle area the door sometimes will then open. upon searching this issue on line it seems there are a lot of people with this same issue. i was locked in my car for hours yesterday until i finally climbed out the window. after that the doors finally opened and when i went to the store shortly after i was locked out and stranded outside my car for another several hours. i think there needs to be a recall.... also once when trying to open my door i tore the handle right off the car becasue it had locked me out. this also seems to be a huge issue for many others as i also see this online. | |||

| Started smelling gas today and i called the dealership were i bought my car in 2006. blossom chevrolet. i think there is a crack in the fuel pump. they stated there is no recall for this in indiana at this time i just hope something bad doesn't happen like a fire before i can save the money to have it repaired. : ( i purchased my car brand new i should not have to pay for this, any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. sincerely, christina carey | |||

| I arrived at work yesterday only to find i couldn't exit my car through the driver's door. i manually tried unlocking it, but it still did not open. i proceeded to climb out of the passenger seat. that door would not close all the way. i thought the seat belt was stuck in the door. it turns out the latch didn't allow enough space to catch the door. after 5 minutes of pushing the latch and trying to get the door closed, it finally was able to close. i just purchased this car (used) 2 weeks ago. my first car!! i wish i had bought a honda! today i was going to run errands on my day off. this time the passenger door wouldn't latch. i have no way of securing the door closed since it is a 2 door vehicle. the car is sitting in my parking lot, unable to be driven due to the safety feature (or lack there of!) of the passenger door potentially flying open on me while i'm driving. have seen many complaints on this vehicle. looks/rides nice but not worth the money or headache. still haven't discovered a recall regarding this issue. might be trading this in on a new car, different model/make! | |||

| Tl- the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet cobalt. the contact stated that she could not get the key out of the ignition. the contact stated that she could start the engine but when she went to shut the engine off, the key would not come out of the ignition. the vehicle is in park and she tried to wiggle the key several times but the key would not come out. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. the failure mileage was 65000. ap | |||

| When you are driving and slow down to make a turn or stop at a traffic sign, the power steering goes out and it is impossible to steer. on this make and model all of the power steering is electronic, so there is no way to repair it ourselves. i have done a little researach online and have found that there are several active recalls on this car due to power steering going out and has caused several accidents for other people. please advise the best solution. | |||

| I would like to file a complaint. my car is leaking gas majorly. i looked up the recall information and chevy is only doing recalls in certain states! i drive my car correctly & now i am stuck with a car that starts correctly after trying twice, plus i'm blowing through gas way too fast! why should only certain states get their car fixed. if this problem isn't resolved i will contact the bbb and i will never buy a chevy again. | |||

| My 2006 chevrolet cobalt lt has started having problems with the driver door since 2 days ago. i had arrived at my destination and went to open my driver door to exit and i couldn't. the driver door would not open at all. i tried locking and unlocking the door to see if it would open and nothing changed. i was locked in my car for ten minuets trying to get out until i finally had to crawl out the passenger side of the car. when trying to get back into the car, the same thing was happening to where i couldn't get in and had to enter from the passenger side of the car. right now my door is working normal but an hour ago i couldn't get in again. this is a huge safety risk because if someone needs to exit their car quickly and this is happening, there is nothing that they can do to get out. i am not the only cobalt owner with this issue and have read many complaints of this issue online. this issue needs resolved before anyone gets hurt from being trapped inside the car without a way to escape. | |||

| My wife an i were stoped at middlebrook pike trafic light waiting for the oncoming traffic to pass on western avenue in knoxville,tennessee so that we could make a right turn. we were rear ended by another vehicle who failed to stop. my seat belt did not restrain me ,i was bouncing back and forth several times(i remember going back and forth around 3 to 4 times before it knocked me out). the seat belt just did not hold me ! at that time i weighed about 250 to 260lbs. i was paralized from the waist down for about 9 days at the university of tennessee hospital in knoxville on the neuro floor. i have been to patricia neal rehabation several times and they have fitted me for a power wheel chair. if the seatbelt would have worked properly i would not be in this situation the head rest is bent and loose were my head bounced off of it severaltimes, an the seat itself moves when it is supposed to be stationary(it can go forward or backward) without warning.the car dealer said they was a recall on the seat belts on this car but they never did fix them. the car dealer had people who bought vehicles sign papers that they had their pre-delivery inspection when they did not. the dealer would give them a tank of gas for it an also for any letter from gm on ranking the local dealer's service favorably only. this dealer knew of several recalls on this vehicle but they did not want to fix them under the manufactors warranty.my wife called gm headquarters and they told her that if she had any more problems with her car they would replace it . i also have a spinal cord injury. | |||

| I was driving to a different state, and about 3 hours into the drive, i stopped for gas. after shutting the car off, i was unable to remove the key from the ignition. i was able to release the key by reaching under the steering column and pressing the manual release button. even after having recall work on another item at a gm dealer, they didn't offer any sort of solution on how to get this fixed. i still have to press the manual release to get the key out. contacted gm customer service through email and they offered no remedy and claimed no responsibility. | |||

| On monday may 30 2011 i was driveing home and decided to tke the freeway. i entered the 215 freeway at center street in riverside, then eccelerated to traffic speed then the car ahead of me slammed on there breaks so i proceded to stop and avoid hitting them and the sterring wheel locked up and my car veered over to the center divider from the slow lane and my car crashed into the wall it left me completly faceing traffic on the 215 freeway! then to avoid any further accidents i drove off the freeway and drove home. this is the first time ive noticed the steering wheel locking up. my car is currently being worked on. | |||

| I have had a problem with my 06 cobalt back in early 07 it was under warranty at the 7 times i took it to the dealer for steering concerns. the dealership could not duplicate the hard steering problem or produce computer problem.i was very adament about this and also got new tires thinking that was the problem. it was not ! i was not aware of any serious problem with the power steering,and was a leary to drive my car (a gift from my mom) but had nothing else to drive. in march of this year on the 30th i was comming from a friends home and was on a side road i slowed to make a right turn and i could not get the car to go right,it was very hard to to turn,and i went through the light and hit a tree head on and the air bag did not diploy. i was told later i missed the sensor. the car was totaled and g.m. wont do anything about this.i was told that even though the car sat for 2 months with a dead battery the computer does not loose data. (g.m.) i know of several cobalt oweners who have had the power assist replaced on more than one occasion and it still went out.the mechanics (a.s.e.)certified informed me it is not the power assist it is in the steering column,and should be replaced,but g.m. wont do that it would cost to much money.it is nice to know that g.m. would rather sacrifice the consumer rather than take care of them.i also understand the computer has a history of not recording properly when there is a problem.the rest of us who have had a crash with and without air bags need some kind of solution.g.m. is sweeping this under the rug!!!! thank you for your time. | |||

| I bought a 2006 chevy cobalt. after a month the door locks started to malfunction. i had the car at the dealership twice to fix the issue. then 6 months ago i could not open my driver side door. i have had to cut through the panel and all of the rods are in place. the door will not open from the inside or out. i have to enter the car from the passenger side. i have complained to riverton chevy in sandy, ut and i have complained to gm. they claim because of the mileage on the car they will not fix unless i pay. they want to charge me 150$ just for a diagnositcs. the door is stuck. they were the last people to have the panels removed. this is horrible. if you search the internet you can see i am not the only person with this problem. i need help. i cannot afford to pay someone for something, i believe they are responsible for and were the last people to work on my car. | |||

| I have owned my 2006 chevy cobalt since june 2006 and have had numerous problems out of this car. i have had to pay out of pocket for every repair because they seem to all happen before a recall is issued and the dealerships will not refund money on the repairs. 1) a/c leaks water in passenger side floor board. i have had it in the shop 3 times and it is still leaking. no one can figure out why the water is leaking into the car. 2) gas tank had to be replaced due to fule lines cracking. 3) power steering went out while my husband was driving on the interstate and was about 130 miles from home. 4) the car would die if the rpm's got too low, this was caused by a carbon build up on the idler. 5) there is no way to check the transmission fluid and it is starting to slip and take forever to upshit. 6) the key gets stuck in the ignition and will not come out. 7) the drivers side door gets stuck and will not open. 8) the door latch sometimes messes up and the door does not close. 9) the stereo display and buttons no longer work. i can not use the cd player for fear of losing the cd for ever since the eject button doesn't work. i can not see the clock or what station the radio is on. the car lost its value so fast that even after 4 yrs of having it i still can not trade it in due to the amt. i still owe on it. so i am stuck driving this piece of crap until it is paid for. i have already invested several thousands of dollars into this car for these problems. i believe that the car is a lemon and i should be reimbursed for the car and all of the out of pocket repairs i have had to make. | |||

| I own a 2006 chevrolet cobalt ss and my wife was driving on a 100' high freeway and someone cut her off while they were merging into her lane she tried to swerve out of the way and she told me that when she tried to turn the wheel it was very hard to do so and then got extremely loose and caused her to over correct and then she hit the side concrete guard rail and then rolled and landed with the hovering about a 100' from her death. she was under the speed limit, wearing a seatbelt, air bags deployed and the police officer's were amazed that she didn't go over the edge. i have photos to provide. | |||

| I see there are issues on the fuel module on the 2006 chevy cobalts, and i took it to get replaced however when i take my car to get diagnosed it continues to say there is something with a misfire, and my fuel evaporating. i am having multiple problems with my 06 cobalts and has i have done extenous research and every problem ive found online over 1000 complaints and blogs, and sites where customers are all complaing about the same issue. i am a working college student and drive to work and school everyday. my car stopped on the freeway the other day, and almost caused an accident however the vehicle slammed on their brakes. not only the fuel line but also my car key does not come out the ignition. all these issues are ongoing and i have found over 10,0000 unsatisfied consumers all with the same issues with the cobalts. this is a big issue, and i am tired of dealing with chevrolet as this is there product and they are only trying to get the money and make you pay for all the services. these are major issues all going out at the same time. | |||

| 2006 cheverolet cobalt randomly days, weeks apart in mid travel, at turns, near rear end crash with sudden loss of power 4-28-10 while wife driving 60 mph, and car slowed quickly nearly getting rear ended, car behind swerved to miss barely. an every now and then nuisanse becoming an extreme hazard as power is lost, care stalls really quickly in speed in mid road. a lot of complaints online about same issue. if this was an interstate she could have been killed. same has happened to me at least 3-4 times in one month. taking car in this weeked, but none of the recalls seem to point to the problem. | |||

| I have a 2006 chevy cobalt, the check engine light will come on in the car and the car will just stop or sometimes the check engine light doesn't come on and the car will stop. i was crossing a busy intersection and the car just stopped, i tried to start it back up but it just stalled. this has happened several times were you could be driving and the car will just stop. i was at a stop light and the car just stop. it's becoming a driving hazard, because i really don't know when the car will just stop on me. i have had a diagnostic check on the car from the dealership and they found nothing wrong and i had them check it again they said it was a sensor. the next day after the dealership checked my car the car stopped again in traffic. now this will be the third time i will have take it for repairs to see what is wrong. i'm afraid i'll get hurt or my teenager daughter will get hurt, because the car just stops. the car also stoppped on the expressway while driving, i was in the slow lane and was able to pull over. can you please help... | |||

| My 2006 chevy cobalt will sometimes loose power when you turn a corner or from take off. it will hesitate for a few seconds a then start to take off gradually. there has been no engine light on but one time. the electric power steering light came on (making a dinging noise) then went off when the car started to run better. seems to have more problems during the colder weather. i called gm dealerships and they said there is nothing they can do about it. it a safety issue because people are behind you when you take off and all of a sudden your car starts to act like it has no power and i almost been hit from behind. amco transmisson place told me it might be something with the transmission trying to take off in second gear. gm dealerships said they doubt it and would not look at it. i was wondering if anyone else has had problems. gm in tulsa, claremore oklahoma said they never heard of it but i do not belive them. this problem happens all the time. | |||

| For the last 10 days i have been having problems with my 2006 chevy cobalt. for some reason after u park the car the vehicle wont go all the way into park and u cant remove the key from the ignition. also when i start the car the shifter seems to be completely stuck and after i continue to restart and press the brake it finally will move. seems to be a linkage problem. i looked this up online and other people are having the same problem. so my vehicle has been sitting in the garage since saturday with the keys stuck in it. when are we gonna start getting proper recalls on this car or have it labeled as a lemon. i just got it out of the shop a month ago for the power steering problem. | |||
