VISIBILITY - POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS

 1) when parking my cobalt, 3 of every 5 times my key becomes stuck in the ignition. i have to do things like--apply the brake off-and-on repeatedly, shift in-and-out of park repeatedly, and sometimes even rock the car back-and-forth with my body until it clicks into place and i can take my key out of the ignition. i work late shift at the hospital. it is a very scary situation to be stuck in the dark--in the middle of a parking lot--not able to get the key out of the ignition. 2)periodically, when i start up my cobalt, the clock on my dashboard will start back at 12:00. it is very frustrating to have to keep resetting my clock. why is this happening? 3) as i drive my cobalt, the back windows slowly roll themselves down. i am constantly having to reach back and roll them up. they do not roll themselves down all the way, but they crack themselves enough to hear the air coming in. 4) since i bought my cobalt i have had problems with my headlights pointing downward too much. i have brought them in to be adjusted on more than one occasion. they are still not adjusted correctly, and--at times-- i have to squat down in my seat at night in order to see under my headlights, so i do not cause an accident. there was a wreck associated with this headlight problem late in '06 involving a deer on the highway becuase it was impossible to see in time. *jb

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) the sun roof on my 2006 chevrolet cobalt which i purchased new failed and had to be replaced. i live in new england and because of the weather we have it does not get opened very often in fact if i have opened it two dozen times in the 37 months that i have owned it i feel i am over stating the fact. the car only had 42,732 miles on it when it failed and i feel it never should have needed to be replaced it cost me 685.15 to replace it and even though that i contacted the chevrolet customer care center they did not offer to give me any relief in the price. the only reason that i replaced it was because it would not close. if it failed in the closed position i would not have cared because i did not order the car with a sun roof it came as an option with the car that was available on the lot. in the time that i owned the car (which i still own) i had to bring it back to the dealer for adjustment. the reason i am contacting you is to see if there is anything you could do to help me out.  My husband and i have used the sun roof a total of 7 times include yesterday. we bought the 2006 chevy cobalt in 1/2006. yesterday i opened the sun roof and then when i went to close it, the back rt side will not close all the way. i found two small plastic pieces in the track. i will be taking it to the dealership tomorrow (monday) for them to fix it. i am assuming that this will be covered under warranty. i checked your web site to see if there was a recall on this but did not find one. the sunroof is electrical. *jb

I purchased a 2006 cobalt ls level 2 used in october of 06. shortly after the purchase my car started a moderate tone whistling and my heater started making a clicking noise which both are very annoying. i have brought my car to the dealership whalen chevrolet in greenwich ny many many times and all they ever say is the noises are normal there's nothing they can do about it. shortly after those problems came about my wipers stopped working in a storm for no apparent reason, when i brought the car to the dealership for this problem they blamed it on me saying i was mis-using my wipers ,apparently your not supposed to use them. within days of that problem my car started to bump when i'd touch the brakes, once again i brought the car to the dealership and what do you know the dealership said it was my fault and the brake rotors needed to be planed down. still to this day the car is whistling the entire time it runs and the heater is clicking away like always,it is apparent to me that this is no replacement for the lack luster cavalier,it is the cavalier it's just prettied up a bit. to this point the shabby engineering of this car has cost me well over $500 in repairs & diagnosing to try and solve a problem the gm certified mechanics at whalen chevrolet in greenwich ny can't seem to figure out---oops i mean it's supposed to sound like it's falling apart. *tr
