| The door locks on the car keep unlocking and locking while driving or stopping. it happens approximately 50 times every time i drive. the locks will also lock and unlock while the car is off and locked leaving it vulvnerable to theft. i have to keep my car in my garage for fear of theft. i am unable to drive it anywhere. this is dangerous for anyone who has children as they will try and open the doors. i have had to replace the electical wiring a few times. it is getting costly to no avail. | |||

| First off 10,000 miles after my warranty ended the clutch went on this car. since then i have had to replace the clutch 3 more times, replace the transmission and then rebuild the transmission. whoever at chevy decided to use atf in a manual transmission care due to their own design flaw of a smaller whole thereby creating synchos which were not properly lubricated should be shot. so here we are again for annual transmission maintenance..ie: the clutch went out again. this time we changed it and since all the frame bolts were stripped out from the liscensed mechanic who did it the last 3 times, we had to take it out the top. next came the new starter that had to be put in and now it is all back together, all fuses checked out ok, the battery is ok, the starter checks out of, but....the car will not start. dash lights indicate that there is a power steering issue and i am out of gas, both of which are incorrect so something is wrong and i am out of ideas as to what on this stupid car that i never should have purchased and will never purchase again because it is junk!! | |||

| The safety chimes for the turn signal, seat belts not working, keys left in, lights on work through the left front drivers door radio speaker. this speaker seems to go in many cars. the rest of the speakers work fine but are not connected the safety system. there are many documented examples of this on line. this is a safety issue. what if a child is left in a car while the keys were left in the ignition. the car is started and the child sends the car into the street resulting in many fatalities. what about the driver that forgets to fasten seatbelts and don't get the warning chime. this is not a easy fix for the do it yourself as the door needs to came apart to access. this needs to be a safety recall and gm needs to correct before a tragedy happens. *tr | |||

| Battery died in car, had to jump the car. car started fine, steering seemed to be a little tight. after a few minutes of driving the tightness in the steering went away. however upon arriving at home the key would not come out of the ignition, and the shifter would shift into any gear easily without having to press in the shifter button. also in attempts to remove the key the steering wheel is now locked all the way to the right with the wheels locked in the right position. was able to remove key from ignition by locating the emergency key release switch under the steering column but car will not start now as key wont turn all the way, and shifter still shifts into any gear without having to press the shifter button. car was parked front first against building so i have no idea how i will get it towed out of there to a shop to fix it! i suspect the shifter cable assembly at the end of the shifter which is made out of plastic is broken. will verify when its taken apart. i have seen at least 50 other cases on the internet where this piece breaks and causes the car not to register it being in park and will not release key from ignition. gm recalled certain years for shifter problems but not the 2007 unfortunately! *tr | |||

| My husband and i purchased the vehicle in question in april 2007, at approx. 50,000 miles my car started to miss, then began to accelerate on its own and lunge as i was coming to a stop. we brought the car back to dealer where purchased, we were then sent on wild goose chase, first we were told it was a fuel pedal sensor, nxt they replaced the computer, followed by the wiring harrness, this however, did not fix the problem, we took it back for a fourth time and the ended up rebuilding the head on the motor, car has not ran correctly ever since. we tried to file a lemon law claim but needed four reciepts to prove warrenty work, we had three and after the fourth when picked up car the dealer would not release fourth, that was a year ago. my car now has 88,000 miles on it, it is begining to idle rough again and when i put fuel in it, the car does not want to start, at first it will not do anything, and then it will try to turn over but will not start i then have to slam the fuel to it in order to get it started, once it starts it will idle rough and i have to keep giving it fuel in order for the idle to smooth. this is the worst vehicle i have ever owned, i will be hard pressed to ever buy another chevy!!!!!!! | |||

| On march 4, 2011 i had my 2007 cobalt's electrical power steering fixed due to the recall i recieved in the mail. this was as emich chevorlet in colorado. recently i have been having issues making turns at slower speeds and sometime unable to turn at all. i contacted my personal shop and was told the dealer needed to do the work and the recall should have fixed this defunct part. i contacted the dealer today who straight away told me it was not their problem. if you scour the internet numerous people are still posting that even after the recall these parts (steering) are still failing and cuasing accidents. i should not have top pay for a part that cannot last a year and 3 days. | |||

| I can not remember the date or mileage of first occurrence. i bought this car in july 2006 new. the main annoyance with this car is the bushings. i have gotten them fixed 3 times since 06, and yet making the noise again when i break which indicates they need to be replaced again. second annoyance is the radio, i have had my speakers replaced as only the back ones would work. every winter my speakers go out, one day will be the left front, next day will be front right - they choose when they want to work and when they do not want to, and the other day none of the sound would work! third my rpm's will randomly shoot up while i'm driving, going at a constant speed. not very happy with this car... | |||

| My husband bought his car nov.6, 2008 and since that we didn't have a problem anything but that one window on the right of the back seat won't move. anyway, on oct.22, 2011, my husband was coming home from work when the power steering went off, thank god he made it safe to our home. on monday, he made the appointment to the dealer place for the recall we kept on putting off. so the following morning, tuesday, the dealer replaced the electric power steering. the car was working fine that whole day. the next morning, the car won't do anything at all. the un/lock button won't work as if there's no power and the car won't start. | |||

| Purchased vehicle brand new in 2007 and no problems till now. 22 year old daughter driving vehicle, she is a college student. she drives in major city daily and driving home from school gauge cluster went crazy and power steering went out. scaring her, she parked the car in a church lot and i sent the car to a dealer the next day. i had found on the internet that there was a recall on the power steering assist motor and informed the dealership of such when the work was to be done. they replaced the motor under the recall but also charged me $780.00 to replace the steering column which they said was bad. i have found 1000 + complaints on the internet of people saying their steering columns were supposedly bad as well with 1 person having theirs replaced 3 times now. she picked the car up and 2 weeks later the same thing occurs again. the dealership looks at it for 4 days and claim they can't find anything wrong so do nothing but investigate. they claim the codes were erased on the computer because we drove it after the fault but the car was parked and immediately hauled to the dealer on a flatbed truck. as i said before there are well over 1,000 complaints on the internet that i have found myself so i am sure there are a lot more. as soon as i can afford it this car will be put in town square with a big lemon sign on it and she will be driving something other than gm. | |||

| Purchased vehicle brand new in 2007 and no problems till now. 22 year old daughter driving vehicle, she is a college student. she drives in major city daily and driving home from school gauge cluster went crazy and power steering went out. scaring her, she parked the car in a church lot and i sent the car to a dealer the next day. i had found on the internet that there was a recall on the power steering assist motor and informed the dealership of such when the work was to be done. they replaced the motor under the recall but also charged me $780.00 to replace the steering column which they said was bad. i have found 1000 + complaints on the internet of people saying their steering columns were supposedly bad as well with 1 person having theirs replaced 3 times now. she picked the car up and 2 weeks later the same thing occurs again. the dealership looks at it for 4 days and claim they can't find anything wrong so do nothing but investigate. they claim the codes were erased on the computer because we drove it after the fault but the car was parked and immediately hauled to the dealer on a flatbed truck. as i said before there are well over 1,000 complaints on the internet that i have found myself so i am sure there are a lot more. as soon as i can afford it this car will be put in town square with a big lemon sign on it and she will be driving something other than gm. | |||

| I have had to replace the sway bar links, control arm bushing and the shifter in order to get my car inspected this year. another problem i have is the blinkers not making the clicking sound, they work but i was told i have to replace my front speaker. i feel like that is a lot to go wrong with a vehicle in one year. i also think that these problems shouldn't have happened this early. i only have 57,000 miles on my car. something should be done with these vehicles seeing how there are many other people having the same problems with their cars. | |||

| Tl-the contact owns 2007 chevrolet cobalt. the ignition failed december 13, 2008 the dealer replaced the ignition cylinder module. on march 13, 2010 with the vehicle at 49,333 she heard a metal grinding noise while driving. the vehicle was taken to the garage diagnosed located the failure at the vehicle front end struts, bushing, control arm shaft, and the stabilizer bar. the garage replaced the bushing. the stabilizer bar, the struts, and control arm were not replaced. the contact also wanted to state the front tires had to be replaced sooner than normal, because of the defected struts. the manufacturer took a report 7184842896 they advised the vehicle was over the warranty. the failures were considered normal wear and tear; therefore they will not assist with the repair. the failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 63,000. li | |||

| I was driving and the power steering light came on, the all of a sudden the steering wheel was hard to turn, and i was unable to make a right or left turn. when i did try turning, my car almost hit another car that was stopped at the light because i did not have enough strength to turn the wheel all the way. it has progressively got worse and when i took the car into a chevy service dealer, i was told this is a common problem with the cobalt and they had many of them coming in for service with the same problem and the whole system would have to be replaced. the cost i was quoted was $1,000.00. gmc customer service was contacted by the dealership service manager and the dealership agreed to pay a percentage of the repair cost which would still leave me paying $475.00. i've only had the car for 2 years and purchased it used with 14,000.00 miles. i was also told that this issue is occurring when and if the car has been jump started because this is a main cause of which triggers the major safety and costly issue. the first question that i was asked of me is: has the car been jump started with cables at any given time? this issue has caused some hardship in my family as well as transportation issues for a single mom as myself. i am currently upside down on the vehicle by 7 thousand dollars so trading it in is not an option for me. i am currently paying for a chevy silverado as well. *tr | |||

| My daughter's chevrolet cobalt 2007 car's power steering turns-off while driving and makes it a hazard during driving, especially for weaker individuals. the stiffness in steering makes it seem that it is locked. research online shows that even earlier models have this problem. chevrolet engineered making power steering powered electronically vice hydraulics and fluids as with most vehicles. and now, we find that there is no recall from chevrolet and to repair it will cost about $2k. about 1/8 the cost of the vehicle. if were doing the same to a company like toyota, then we should also look at the chevrolet cobalt. *tr | |||

| We bought a 2007 chevy cobalt on 7-27-09. during the next month, there were several times when my son was driving the car when the power steering would go out, the gauges would go back and forth, the low fuel light would come on, the security light would come on and the car would jerk. if you turned the car off and tried to restart it, sometimes it would not start. on other occasions, the ps and gauges would intermittently go off and during the course of your trip. most recently, while my son was driving to marion, the ps went off and on 12 times. we took the car to schott bros. in bucyrus on 9-8-09, and the codes it was displaying were somewhat generic, so they decided to replace the ignition switch which did not have any effect on the problem. it continued to act up. we didn't have the ps problem for about 3 months and then it started it acting up again. we took it back to schott bros. again for service and it was still displaying the same generic codes, and when they contacted gm, they suggested changing the wiring between the ps module and the body control module. however, there was no guarantee that this would fix the problem and it would cost about $400.00. this is a very dangerous problem and there should be a recall for this ps issue. according to gm's records, this car has had this problem for a long time prior to our purchasing the car and although the previous owner had taken it in for service, they were not able to fix the problem either. again, i stress that it is very important that an investigation and recall is issued for this problem. *tw | |||

| I bought my 2007 cobalt in july 2008, used only as a rental car with enterprise, with 34k miles. within 2 months, my rotors were warped and had to be replaced. milwaukee has a terrible problem w/ potholes so i've had to put 4 new rims and tires on it too and an alignment. it still shakes when i go between 45-60mph. also, the gear shift keeps getting locked in park, like a sensor is broken or something. i have to continuously press on the brake until it gives. and there must be a short somewhere because occasionally the blinkers noise (tick tick) and the left speaker go out, come back on, go out, etc. i've had the car 8 months and have this many problems with it? of course the dealership is charging an arm and leg for repairs that i can't afford but i think they should be responsible for this because there is no way these problems can be operator error. this is a manufacturing problem! i can understand the tires & rims because i've hit too many potholes but everything else? come on. anyone else complained about similar issues? *tr | |||
