The traction and abs light frequently comes on. i'm not sure if it something that i should be worried about, or if it is something that just happens.

Noticing strong odor of gasoline. after being driven, the odor is very strong within the car. odor is also outside and very strong. can be smelled every time entering or exiting vehicle. odor remains even when vehicle has been off for several hours. checked for drips/leaks and could not locate. vin # is part of recall data base but recall doesn't apply to my car because of what state i live it (???).

The left front speaker quit working. i then noticed that the turn signal chime did not work. when i was trying to trouble shoot the problem i also noticed that all chimes (door open, key in the iginiton, etc) was not working. based on my research, it appears that the colbalt has a long history of this issue and it also apears that gm doesn't want to address it.

I was driving my 2007 cobalt and stopped at a stop sign, when i saw smoke rolling out from the car. luckly my children were not in the car. within minutes my car was up in flames. the entire car, except the trunk was gone. there was no saving the car. everything was burned to a crisp. today i heard about the recall, i was wondering if that had something to do with my fire. i do know im not satified.

I placed my car in park last night, but for some reason my key got stuck in the ignition. the ignition would not turn back to the lock position for the key to be released. i checked my car's wheels to make sure they were straight and every other thing that i could think of to try and make the key go to the lock position. after reading the manual, i was able to find that there was a cap on the panel under the steering column, that once removed, contained an emergency release button that when pushing it allowed for the ignition to be turned to the lock position and they key to be released. i have started my car several other times and encountered the same problem. i did a fair amount of research and read a number of reviews on the internet, and i came to realize this is a rather common problem in the chevy cobalt. it now seems that i will have to pay several hundred dollars to have this common problem diagnosed and remedied, so that i won't have to push a special button for my car to turn completely off and have my key released from the ignition every time i drive.

When coming to a stop, the car will accelerate on its own. it does this at random times, today at stop sign the car speedometer accelerated to 80 mph and car shut down while at a complete stop. no codes to read nor did check engine light come on.

2007 chevy cobalt, 60,000 miles. bushing on driver side was completely missing, busing on passenger side was almost gone. car would veer to the left, counter steering would cause the car to be very erratic. was told by chevy that only the bushing would be covered under warrant, however my mechanic would not replace just the busing as the control arm would be compromised. replaced parts - only to have the car start acting the same way. on a recent trip upnorth for the holidays, when i reached 60 mph the steering wheel started vibrating and it felt like the wheel was not on securely. my son and i were bounced around inside of the car as if we were swaying back and forth. i was told by our local chevy dealership that this problem with the bushings is not going to be recalled as it is not a safety issue. i really must disagree, i was very nervous being on the freeway driving 70 mph only to have the car start swaying back and forth. we immediately turned around and drove back home. i will be making an appointment with my local mechanic to see what the issue is, and then will be trading the car in to never own a chevy again in this lifetime. this is unfortunate as i loved my cobalt - great gas mileage, perfect size car.....i have noticed through my research that there are hundreds of people who are experiencing this problem. i have never owned a car where major equipment needed to be replaced within 4 years of driving. this is not simply wear and tear, however poor production on the part of chevy.

I tried to open the driver's side door, from the outside, and the handle broke off. i am not a person of unusually great strength. the car is less than ten years old. the winter conditions on january 10, 2011 in the great northwest were nowhere near as cold as other parts of the country. this door handle should not have failed due to the age of the car, the weather, or my opening the door in the usual manner. the outside door handle of the 2007 cobalt needs to be made stronger. this is a safety hazard that needs to be addressed before a life is lost. should a person need medical assistance and another door handle fails, a death could occur.

The key can not be removed from the ignition switch. eventhough the shifter is in the park position. the key does not return to the remove position. you can turn the engine off, but the key remains in the accessory position so the battery runs down. repeated efforts of cycling the shifter and turning the wheel does not rectify the problem. when i took it to the dealer the shifter was replaced at a cost of $287. fortunately, this happened when i returned home and was able to park in my own garage. it would have been unfortunate if i had been on a trip or an important errand and would have to left the key in the ignition in a public area. when i googled this problem on the internet in an effort to find a simple solution, i found numerous similar complaints in regards to the cobalt car.

Driving down the road the power steering light comes on, power steering goes out, rpm, speedometer and fuel gauges go to zero then rapidly move back and forth, transmission slips, check engine light and auto theft lights come on. i have had the power steering recall fixed. this has happened multiple times now. at first it would go away if the vehicle was restarted, however, now i have to have it towed to the dealership to have it fixed. this will be the second trip to the dealership in 1.5 weeks.

Since vehicle was new issues with radio and left speaker, dash lights flashing on and off, complaints to dealer went un-resolved until warranty was over then they wanted to look at it. now at 52,000 miles instrument panel and tail lights went out, static on radio. found blown fuse, replaced and it blew out again, leaving me with no instrument panel lights or tail lights. have found similar complaints on other web sites. as of present time no solution to the issue. failure occurred at 5am while driving on the interstate.
