FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

Car doesn't start on first attempt. it tries, then even after i release the key it continues to start, like its stuck, i have to pump the gas to get it to start, and it acts flooded. i have spent close to $5000.00 dollars, brakes, wheel bearings, emergency brake. the front end began to feel very loose. the problem was that the struts prematurely failed and created a very dangerous driving condition. replaced mounts struts etc etc this car has been a nightmare i bought thios car new out of the dealer. 2005 new problem stearing wheel is making a grinding noise dealer is saying $1300.00 to repair it when does it stop gm / chevy needs to fix this cars at no cost

Egr tube cracked and leaks exhaust into car. dealer refuses to fix and stated instead of the part to fix this ourselves, (less than $100) we would need the 'updated' kit which was nearly $400 plus the labor to install plus and addtional fee to 'calibrate' the new part. looking at over $750+ to fix this dangerous situation. nice way to scam money for your dealers! chevy needs to recall this!

Had a loud noise coming from exhaust and have exhaust fumes comeing thur the vents, and found that it was the erg valve (broke in two). went to dealership to get replacement part and was told by the parts guy that this is a big problem with the equinox and that they now have changed the entire part so you can no longer just replace the $20 tube, you have to get the $300 part, plus labor and then have the shop 'reset' the computer to match the new part..........another $200 service. this apparently is a huge problem due to a design flaw. this is a dangerous situation and should be recalled!!! nice scam chevy!

My 2005 chevy equinox fails to start sometimes. it turns over like it wants to start but nothing. i've had it checked out and they can't seem to pinpoint the problem. stepping on the gas will usually get the car to finally start but not always. it is happening more and more often. the battery, starter, etc has been checked and they're fine. next step is changing fuel pump (very expensive) but none of the local garages seem to think that is really the problem as they see this a lot on the equinox.

Just this week, without any warning my 2005 equinox died in the middle of a busy street and would not start....when the local dealership got it (not under warranty) they found that the fuel pump blew a fuse and while replacing the fuse it continued to be a problem. so i had to fork over a small fortune to have the fuel filter replaced. shouldn't something like the fuel filter, of which is inside the fuel tank, be under a life time warranty from the original? *tr

Took in for oil change and lube tech at dealer suggested take in for service due to discoloration of antifreeze, told by service advisor this was okay and not to worry. second oil change same issues, finally have appointment to hopefully correct, poor gas mileage, erratic shifting, gas cap that will not stay on,check engine light once or twice a week, and only 8300 hundred miles on vehicle. will have hard time buying another chevorlet again. *jb

I have taken my 2005 equinox in for service 4 times due to poor fuel economy (13 mpg city/15 mpg hwy). i just bought the vehicle in june 05. i have also contacted chevrolet motors corp with my complaint. each time there is some additional equipment the dealer puts on the vehicle per advice from gm tech's. however, mileage still way off from that advertised. *jb

Poor mileage. suv has 4000 miles and has been into dealer for 2 tsb's from manufacturer to correct transmission & odometer both to help mileage. suv still get only 19 highway/17 city which is well below advertised range of 25 city/19 city. *jb

Deceptive mileage information. vehicle only gets 13 to 17 miles per gallon. less than that chevy tahoe that i traded in to save gas. this is deceptive sales tactics during a time when most people are shopping for vehicles with acceptable gas mileage. this should be considered illegal, at the least it is false advertising. *nm

Vehicle is not meeting mileage claimant by manufacturer 19 mpg to 25 mpg. i spoke with the dealer who told me that would improve after 1500 miles. vehicle at 5000 miles and a few long road trips is on an average of 13 mpg city and 16 mpg highway. dealer has no response. *jb

Foul odor in cabin coming from heater, also smell is noticable outside the car. checked the coolant and it is dark brown and has a strong foul odor. the vehicle does not get anywhere near the mileage per gallon that gm states it should get of 19 and 25. lucky if it get 13mpg city and 15 highway.*ak
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - DELIVERY - FUEL PUMP
01/05/2008500001
I bought my car brand new with 4 miles on it. i have been the only owner. since i purchased my vehicle i have had to have the fuel pump replaced in 2007 ($1400). my car has been in the shop numerous times for costly repairs. my key comes out of the ignition while driving, and it is hard to start. i have to wiggle the key every other time i try to start my car. i've also had problems with my car starting. when i go to crank it up it sounds likes it tries to start then dies. this happens often. my car is not in the shop due to water leakage. there a large collection of water with my spare tire, and the floor in the back seat is soaked. i was told from the gm service department they see this often in my model vehicle but no recall for it at this time so it's out of my own pocket. also i have taken my vehicle to the dealer several times for my steering wheel. it makes a loud sound every time the wheel is turned and they cannot seem to fix the problem. i have had to replace my headlights and brake lights very often. *tr
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE - DELIVERY - HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS

Complaint received via e-mail. the vehicle has been in for repairs 3 times, and i am waiting on a call from the dealer next week for updated information. the problems are: 1) foul odor, hoses for anti-freeze system replaced per bulletin; 2) rear squeaking, lubed same; 3) transmission. i originally thought brakes, but was told that the transmission had to be reprogrammed, and that it would continue to adjust itself according to driving conditions/ each driver's habits, and 4) popping noise heard when starting or when stopped with foot on brake. noise seems to be coming from gas tank area. asked for fuel line/exhaust system to be checked. as of this time repair center cannot duplicate this problem, and have no ideas. the car has been to the dealer 3 times and a total of 6 days. the transmission problem is in limbo as they are 'looking into it' and will call me back.*ak

I had my 2005 chevy equinox for 2 weeks. it starting having starting problems, when idling, sounded like it wanted to shut off. took it to a gm dealer. turns out the egr needed to be replaced and pcm needed reprogrammed. exactly fits nhtsa item number : 10017551 however, my vehicle doesn't fit in the range that gm decided was faulty. i do believe the range is larger than gm has actually listed. *tr

2005 equinox with normal driving, mostly highway. began to hear the typical sounds of a failing bearing prior to 60,000 miles. vibration in steering, hum present when driving, uneven wear on front tires. replaced rfhub under warranty at approx. 69,000 miles. within 10,000 miles that rfhub began to fail, by the time i could get it to the dealership i had surpassed my warranty and the 12 months/12,000 warranty on the installed part via the dealership. was told that it wasn't out of the ordinary for the part to fail so quickly, which is news to me! how can a bearing fail that quickly and not be defective. was forced to pay over 500.00 to replace it. have complained numerous times about a rattle when going over bumpy roads and received the we couldn't replicate it response since initial complaint prior to 60,000 miles. have heard that the tierods are to blame, have mentioned it, but still deal with this rattle that goes unaccounted. also have bad electrical that can't be replicated at the dealership. radio and panel in dash flash at random times as if a wire were loose or shorting, loud booming thuds come from the speakers at the same time. speaker blew in door, but after warranty. regardless of numerous complaints i would have to pay out of pocket because they couldn't replicate these things when taken in to get looked at. fuel gage sticks, but either have to pay 120.00 to possibly correct it with a fuel system cleaner, or pay 700.00 to replace fuel filter. such great options. my family has worked for general motors for years, it's a shame. *tr
