The chevy equinox has a history of water leaking into the spare tire wheelwell. my 2007 equinox is no exception. it was repaired in 2009 under warranty. the repair lasted for a while then the wheelwell started filling up with water again. last summer i was using a wet and dry vac to take the water out, only to have it fill up later on. gm put out a maintenance bulletin in 2009 for this problem. their instructions did not fix the problem. there is no recall for this, why i don not know. the water creates a terrible smell, fogs up the windows on the inside, creates ice on the inside of the windows during the winter, can create mold throughout the carpeting and seats and is just a complete pain in the ass to keep dealing with this. why has there been no recall on this issue? many, many, many complaints are out there on this problem with no coverage from gm. this is not an owner cause. it is a manufacturing cause. owners of the equinox need a recall inorder to take care of this without payments from the customer. check it out and see how big this problem is. this is a problem with various gm vehicles and years. *tr

In july of 2010, i noticed the sound of liquid coming from the back that wasn't normal. i just assumed at this point that it was my gas and i just never paid attention to it...i had convinced myself of that because i knew we didn't have drinks or anything in the car. in december, my husband accused me of having a milk cup in the car from my son. nothing there, no food or drinks, etc. as we were looking for whatever was causing this terrible smell that smelled like a milk cup had sit in 100 degree temperature in my car, we noticed the carpet was wet. the smell was so bad that we had to roll the windows down and in january where we live it is 10 to 40 degrees, so either temperature...not warm enough for windows down. i was then accused of spilling the milk...crazy! i knew i had not! i got to reading online and found out about the leak in the spare tire well. my husband felt so bad because i did not do it! the water was standing in my spare tire well and leaking out into the whole back floorboard! soaking wet! that explained why every time we rode the car we got sick...literally sick. from upset stomachs, to stuffy noses, to burning eyes and noses, etc...no kidding! mildew or mold...it doesn't matter! neither are good. gm says they won't pay for or even look at for free. just to have diagnosed is $80.00 not including the repair! they say i could have left the liftgate open when it rained...oh come on!!!!!!!! just own up to it and fix your problems! if that were the case i wouldn't have left it there for 6-8 months!!!! i would have sucked it up with a shop vac at least before it flooded my car and made us all sick! i am very upset with gm regarding this issue. my car is out of warranty and gm will not fix their issues that how many others are having again? this is uncalled for and very poor business for our american's employment, people will start buying foreign made! need a resolution and not out of my pocket!!!

My 2007 chevrolet equiniox keeps taking on water in the spare tire compartment in the rear of the vehicle. when driving down hill, the water will enter the inside of vehicle thus wetting the carpet on the floor of the vehicle. how the water enters the vehicle can not be determined. the vehicle has been resealed around the rear door of the vehicle and this has not solved the problem. the water must be entering the vehicle from the undercarriage. i have read complaints from other 2007 chevrolet equinox owners. based on their complaints, they are not getting any resolution from general motors. this moisture in vehicle can cause mildew to occur in the vehicle. this can be hazardous to the occupants.

I had to have my trunk compartment replaced and some areas around the frame of the body re-sealed due to excess water accumulating in the spare time area. i was first told by the dealer repair shop that it was a defect but when i requested reimbursement gm denied that the dealer ever told them this. i believe gm is denying that there are some structural problems with this year and model and my fear is that another year down the road there will be other issues with the frame/body of this model vehicle. also, it bothers me that we are encouraged to buy american but the american car makers do not want to stand up to their promise of good makemanship. i am disappointed and especially with the dishonesty at the corporate level of this corporation. *tr

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet equinox. the contact stated that while driving, the vehicle emitted a strong fuel odor. the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the fuel failure. the dealer inspected the vehicle but was unable to locate the fuel failure. in addition, the sun-roof seal was defective and causing water to penetrate the interior of the vehicle. as a result, the interior light would not provide proper illumination. the dealer advised that the sun-roof could not be repaired and the interior lighting failure could have been caused by a faulty alternator. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 69,000 and current mileage was 78,000. kmj

We own a 2007 equinox, our friend stated that his equinox had water in the spare tire compartment. we have been getting sick for a while and didn't know why. we looked in our spare tire compartment and there was a foot of water. now we cannot drive this vehicle for health reasons. gm knew about this problem for there are 3 service bulletins for this problem. they will not help us with a trade assist and we cannot drive it due to the mold. we have condensation in the inside of the vehicle and have to wipe it off with a towel before we can drive it. the vehicle is full of mold! i'm sure this vehicle has been leaking since day one! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet equinox. ever since the vehicle was purchased, the contact heard a ticking sound in the engine compartment. he stated that the vehicle had poor fuel mileage. the contact also had to jump from the vehicle because the serpentine belt caught a wire that was not in a wiring harness as it should have been. the contact also experienced stabilatrac failure on two separate occasions, which caused the power steering to fail. he has been injured twice because the rear hatch door struts failed and struck him in the head. the tires that came on the vehicle were severely worn and the turn signals would not shut off. the two front doors and the rear hatch door cracks and makes squeaking noises. some repairs have been made; however, the rear hatch needs to be repaired along with the ticking sound in the engine. the failure mileage was 170 and current mileage was 26,000.
