| The passenger side airbag light began displaying intermittently turning the passenger airbag on and off while displaying a service airbag message on the instrument panel. after several months the passenger side airbag now remains off at all times still displaying the service airbag message. this is with a 200 pound man sitting in the passenger seat. turning off and restarting the engine no longer clears the problem. my understanding is that the 2007 equinox was recalled for the same reason so why aren't the 2008 models not being included in the recall? also, after someone mentioned that their equinox had the same problem i started asking other owners. apparently it is fairly common and i guess a source of income for gm. one woman told me the chevy tech told her that air bag problems were common after 45,000 miles and was considered a routine repair. dealer wants $500 plus to repair. as long as dealers are telling people this is a routine repair no one is going to report it as a problem. also, the front right tire pressure indicator constantly reads 15 pounds when two separate manual air guages show 37 psi. in addition, the electronic stability control message comes on periodically even when parked. driving is difficult until it clears which is also after a restart. | |||

| Right after purchasing this vehicle i noticed after running the air conditioner that a moldy musty smell came from the car. my husband changed the cabin air filter, that only helped for just a few weeks. i had my service department check it out. they told me the condensor need a foam spray to kill the bacteria at my cost. i purchased the extended warranty on this vehicle but that would not cover the cost of the fix. i am very dissapointed with this vehicle. i am also concerned that we are beathing all this contamined air. | |||

| We were driving on highway at approximately 70 mph when there was a vey load boom and we unexpectedly realized that the sunroof glass had shattered, some of which dropped down inside the suv. the sunroof shade was 7/8 way closed which prevented most of the glass from riding down on us. we were on the open road , no overpass, no road debries flying up, no evidence of anything striking the closed sunroof. climate condition , temp was around 50 degrees.partly sunny. we do feel that if the shade on the sunroof had not been almost closed, we would have been involved in a crash if this sunroof glass had dropped down on us. traffic at this time was fairly heavy! dealer claims there have been no other incidents of this type. inspection of the sunroof glass revealed that the center of the glass had shattered and cracked glass was still in the sunroof frame. the sunroof was closed at time of this incident. | |||

| 2008 sport equinox nothing but problems since i drove it off the lot 2 years ago with only 6 miles. 2008 chevy equinox sports & the transmission want at 40,000ish miles while i was driving in a snow storm. took the dealer one month to repair because they couldn't get the parts. also had the steering repaired 4 times, colar repaired. the old dealer did not belive me and the noise was there again & again. it turned out to be the rack.it was a grinding noise which sould like my abs, but it was the steering rack and a loud squealing in the steering wheel. i found a nice dealer who finally believed me and fixed it last week even though it was out of warranty with the new dealer & gm's help. just makes me nervous what else is in store for me since the truck is now out of warranty. there was other issues too, like the co sensor, computer and brake is front heavy. the truck should have been recalled, makes you wonder while this model was only made for 1 year. but since i am a women i do not know what i am talking about! tried to tade in, lol, not worth anything and do not have the money to start over. | |||

| My rear windshield wiper motor caught on fire. it cause the inside of my car to be filled with a smoke. i had to have the motor replaced and the car cleaned to get the smell out. | |||

| I have been driving since 1963 and this car has absolutely the worst problem with static electricity that i have ever seen. i thought at first it was just me, but at a company meeting (it is a company car) i discovered that everyone i spoke to that has an equinox has the same problem. even if the car isn't running and you have already been shocked, if you move around slightly in the seat you will get another shock the next time you touch something metal. the shock is sometimes so severe that at first i thought the battery had a short to ground. *tr | |||
