| I bought my 2011 equinox late 2011. i have had problems on and off with the engine. first it started making an awful racket whenever it was first started. sometimes only once a week or so, sometimes 2-3 times a day. christmas day 2012, while loading the vehicle with gifts and such i had started it so that it would be warm when we were done. but before we were done the car started to sputter and act like it was out of fuel. i turned it off and after i restarted it it ran fine but engine light was on. light went off after about 50 miles. from christmas 2012 to february 20, 2013 that sputtering happened occasionally and then turned into a little worse of an issue and my engine power reduced message started coming on and i'd have to stop and restart the car before it would quit.the car would be 'sputtering' or feel as though i was running out of gas. it got to where when the engine power reduced message came on, before i could even pull over to shut it off the 'sputtering' was so bad that my check stabilitrac message would come on too. i noticed that my mpg had went down also. 2-20-13, i parked the car and didn't drive it again until the dealership could look at it. i took it to the dealership on 2-26-13 and i got it back today 2-28-13. they replaced the throttle body and some of the wiring for the throttle body and it runs like a dream (so far anyway). in fact, i'm not sure that it ever ran this well the entire time i've owned it. | |||

| On 18 dec 2012 the car lunged forward while exiting a parking lot. ten minutes later the car lost all power on a busy highway. i could not steer the car to the shoulder of the road. . . . the car was dead. police arrived to warn me of being in a very dangerous spot. i was towed by aaa to the dealership where the car was purchased. service at the dealership = oil/filter change. odometer - 9778. the old problem reoccurred today 22 feb 2013. odometer 10329 sluggishness, slow response to acceleration, died twice in reverse, and general undependability. i'm afraid to drive the car. it is a hazard on the road. please help. | |||

| Purchased this 2011 equinox lt 4 cy on 4/25/2011. after a few months it started hesitating and stalling and a check engine code p0011. so on 7/15/2011 i took it to the dealer and they replaced the intake cam solenoid and oil. seemed better but still hesitated once in a while so i brought back on 9/27/2011 and the dealer said they could not duplicate.we lived with the hesitation until 2/11/2013 when it starting running bad and stalled a couple times and the check engine light came on with a p0011 code again. this time i took it to another dealership because it was closer and they test both actuator solenoids and at the time of the test they where both working. they checked the debris screens and there was no debris to affect the operation of the actuator. so with no other information about the problem they said the oil was dirty, even though the oil had less than 2500 miles and the computer life oil sensor said i was at 64%. and they stated that the oil did not read on the dip stick. my suv with 24k miles and less than 2500 miles on since a oil change had burned over a quart and a half of oil. *tr | |||

| These vehicles need to be recalled by gm - they have a serious engine defect which cause excessive oil consumption and dangerous performance of the vehicle. the vehicle will stall at any given time or not respond so pulling out into traffic is extremely dangerous. they are in the process of replacing my engine however after much research in most cases this does not fix the problem. i am fortunate to have a dealer that is responsive to my complaints - however that is not the case for most. there are people out there fighting to have the situation resolved but have made no progress. i requested gm terminate my lease as i will not place my children in this vehicle any longer, they refused. i have a light at the end of my tunnel as i leased, but so many people who purchased these vehicles do not as the problem is so well know and documented they are unable to trade them in at a decent value. it is a sin that they are not forced to recall these unsafe vehicles. i am assuming they are waiting for a fatality. i have been denied that ability to speak with a district manager at gm as the resolution provided by the lower level employees was not acceptable. at this point i am not sure where to turn. i will be placing the vehicle in my garage once the engine is replaced and buying another vehicle as to not endanger myself or others. | |||

| Bought 2011 equinox on may 14,2011, on june 6,2011 with only 1675 miles returned vehicle to dealership due to making noise upon starting. best i can make out on work order: code 314 diagnostic scan &r&i&r starter & reposition & torque bolts. returned on sept 1, 2011 for same problem. told there was a recall and had to reprogram engine control module. was better for awhile, but kept getting worse till it sounded like a diesel engine starting. just figured this was maybe normal and we would have to just live with it. final took back to another dealership on 8-2-12. replaced water pump and balance shaft timing chain,tensioner, crank shaft balancer bolt and cam shaft actuator bolts. engine light came on 8-18-12, tech said had a leak in vac. hose. returned vehicle on 9-7-12 for diesel sounding noise again. parts ordered to be put on 9-10-or 9-11-12. don't' think this will fix problem, but it is what gm has recommended to do. also had issue with speaker in frnt passenger door. had to take vehicle 4 different trips for them to determine where static noise was from. so loud at times it was difficult to hear radio. finally replaced speaker and has worked fine since. also have noticed when stopped and start to accelerate there would be a hesitation. thought it was just not having foot on pedal good, but after reading about stalling issues-wonder if this is what is happening. really considering trading this vehicle in-but wonder if we would get true value of car once they see what all has been done and problems. isn't there some compensation gm can give to owners. would never recommend this vehicle to anyone. *tr | |||

| Concerning 2011 chevy equinox 4cyl, on startup, there will be a loud knocking noise, sounds as if there is no oil in the engine, sound lasts from 1-5 seconds then goes away. most of the times it will do it on first start-up of the day but there have been a few times where it has done it multiple times in the same day. car has been in the shop 4 times for the same issue, they have replaced the cam actuator and solenoid, which i had to bring back again (#5) because the gasket was seated incorrectly and was leaking oil on my driveway. service account manager has heard the noise the first time i bought it in and the last time it was in, both times the sound lasted about 1 second, but it was enough that both of us heard it, not as long as the times when starting at home, probably because those were on first start-up of the day whereas the times at the dealership it was either already running or was started a few times that day. they also replaced a high pressure pump insulator cover for a ticking noise that had nothing to do with the knocking noise. also have mentioned to them that while accelerating (from dead stop at traffic light, going up on-ramps to highways and merging into high-speed traffic), the rpm's will drop down to zero and car almost stalls then it kicks back into gear (up to 6500 rpms), this has happened at least 5 times, and they couldn't duplicate that problem either. i have tried all 3 grades of gasoline and issues were present with all 3. at this point it has already been in 4 times for the same issue and i feel as though one day the engine will have more serious issues because of these issues. | |||

| This vehicle is under a recall - #11195b product emissions poor driveability - reprogram engine control module. this recall, if not done properly or within the allotted time causes severe engine damage to the timing chain, the timing gears and other cam shaft parts. our dealer has not been able to repair in a reasonable time. | |||

| Drove it. turned it off for 15 minutes. went to start it back up and would not start. would'nt even turn over. called onstar and they sent someone to jump it. would not start 2 more times before i could get it in to get looked at. the neighbor and my fiancee had to jump it both times. that was within 3 days. dealership could not duplicate. said it was a program telling my car not to start. they re-programed my car. worked for a week. then went to get in it to go to work again and would not start. that was a saturday. have an appointment on tuesday because they need to fix a recall on my vehicle not associated with this problem. let them know it would not start again. also, when i went to back out of my parking space the first time onstar came the steering wheel was turning but my wheels weren't. had my boss with me to witness this. after 6 tries the wheels finally turned to allow me to back out of my space. the dealership thought that the cars computer system may have just been taking a while to kick in. | |||

| Engine stalling problems, vehicle towed car had recall for problem. rpm`s go up and down at idle still still hesitates every once and awhile has engine knock at start up dealer cant reproduce, been thru one gm buy back on chevy malibu with steering problems,and engine knock. this was a four cyl. and the equinox is a 4 cyl. to. think the engines r the same in both cars .seems to me like gm has big problems with this engine design | |||

| I purchased a 2011 chevy equinox on march 8, 2011. since purchasing i've had multiple issues with the vehicle that have not been resolved. falls in the lemon law category at this point. may 26, 2011 vehicle stalling and hesitation when accelerating tech removed and replaced the exhaust and intake camshaft actuators and the camshaft solenoids (2 actuators and 2 valves) i was informed that this would correct both problems september 14, 2011 vehicle stalling, hesitation when accelerating and recall no.11195. tech claimed he was unable to duplicate the stalling/hesitation. tech performed campaign no. 11195. i was informed that the recall was to repair the stalling/hesitation and would correct both problems september 26, 2011 -september 28, 2011 third visit for same issues! vehicle still stalling, hesitating during acceleration and rattle at startup day 1: informed that the vehicle would need to be kept overnight (parts ordered). day 2: tech removed and replaced the camshaft actuators again and the problem was still occurring after replacing actuators the service engine soon light was lit. i was called and informed that the dealer would need to keep my vehicle one more day to replace the timing chain (parts ordered) day 3 in service: camshaft timing chain replaced total work over 3 days: 2 valves, 2 actuators, 1 seal, 1 gasket and 1 chain installed. i was informed that these fixes would resolve stalling and engine hesitation issues i am having the following problems with my vehicle at this time: vehicle stalling hesitation when accelerating i have filed paperwork for lemon law but also wanted to file a complaint so that people are aware of the problems that chevy is having with theequinox. from the complaints, blogs, etc that i've seen online this seems as if this is a widespread issue and other consumers are dealing with the same issues | |||

| I was driving my equinox out of a parking lot and it stalled, i restarted it, drove it up the road and was going about 30 mph and it stalled again, i turned around back to the parking lot and it happened 2 more times. i have also be getting very poor gas mileage (15-18mph). the car was towed to the dealer and they said they reset the electrical control module because it had errors on it. this has thus far resolved the car from stalling but has not improved the gas mileage. | |||

| I purchased a 2011 chevy equinox on march 8, 2011. since purchasing i've had multiple issues with the vehicle that have not been resolved. falls in the lemon law category at this point. may 26, 2011 vehicle stalling and hesitation when accelerating tech removed and replaced the exhaust and intake camshaft actuators and the camshaft solenoids (2 actuators and 2 valves) i was informed that this would correct both problems september 14, 2011 vehicle stalling, hesitation when accelerating and recall no.11195. tech claimed he was unable to duplicate the stalling/hesitation. tech performed campaign no. 11195. i was informed that the recall was to repair the stalling/hesitation and would correct both problems september 26, 2011 -september 28, 2011 third visit for same issues! vehicle still stalling, hesitating during acceleration and rattle at startup day 1: informed that the vehicle would need to be kept overnight (parts ordered). day 2: tech removed and replaced the camshaft actuators again and the problem was still occurring after replacing actuators the service engine soon light was lit. i was called and informed that the dealer would need to keep my vehicle one more day to replace the timing chain (parts ordered) day 3 in service: camshaft timing chain replaced total work over 3 days: 2 valves, 2 actuators, 1 seal, 1 gasket and 1 chain installed. i was informed that these fixes would resolve stalling and engine hesitation issues i am having the following problems with my vehicle at this time: vehicle stalling hesitation when accelerating i have filed paperwork for lemon law but also wanted to file a complaint so that people are aware of the problems that chevy is having with theequinox. from the complaints, blogs, etc that i've seen online this seems as if this is a widespread issue and other consumers are dealing with the same issues | |||

| I was driving my equinox out of a parking lot and it stalled, i restarted it, drove it up the road and was going about 30 mph and it stalled again, i turned around back to the parking lot and it happened 2 more times. i have also be getting very poor gas mileage (15-18mph). the car was towed to the dealer and they said they reset the electrical control module because it had errors on it. this has thus far resolved the car from stalling but has not improved the gas mileage. | |||

| I started my new car up to leave the garage @ work and my car stalled 4 times.i turned off the car each time and restarted the car. i wasnt sure what was happening to my car. i was going down the ramp and the car would stalled again. finally i was at the cashier booth and the car stopped moving. again turned off the car and restarted. it finally moved. went to the grocery store and returned to the car and and drove away. i glanced down @ my dashboard and noted the indicator light was on. immediately became concern and called onstar to do a diagnostic. i was told that it was engine problem and that i need to get the car to nearest service center and followed up. i drove the car down the major highway very nervously and slowly hoping that the car wouldn't stall or get rear ended to dealship. i presented the problem to the rep. he asked me if i was ever told by the dealership that a recall was done on the engine module and i told him i didnt recieve proper notification. i purchased the car july 18, 2011. the recall was done june 13, 2011. i was shocked that chevrolet didn't inform me prior to purchasing car. he allowed me to leave the car and offer me a loaner and would have mechanics work on car the following day. i contacted dealership and left a message as well as the customer relations dept. i recieved a call that friday that the part was installed. i didnt feel comfortable riding this car, after that and made it known to the representative. i am requesting assistance in this matter. | |||

| 2011 chevrolet equinox. consumer writes in regards to defective vehicle operation and safety *tgw the consumer stated the vehicle was returned to the dealer three times, due to it running rough, loss of power, an overwhelming smell of gasoline, a sticky accelerator pedal and the check engine light illuminating. the dealer replaced the high pressure fuel pump, fuel rail pressure sensor and an attempted repair of the pcm and the reprogramming of the tac. the dealer has been unable to resolve the defects. *jb | |||

| 2011 chevy equinox, vehicle engine shutsdown without warning while driving. this occured one time while backing up and five times in one day before we took it back to the dealer . vehicle only had 50 days of purchase and only 1077 miles. the engine stopped working, the car is moving forward on its own , can not change lanes because of the heavy traffic, car comes to a dead stop, vehicles are passing by at 70 to 75 miles while i am in the middle lane, cars behind me are honking their horns,thank god nothing happened. the car re-started we took off looking for the nearest exit to the turnpike but before we could get off the engine shutt down again. as you can see this is safety issue, a car is not suppose to have engine failure, specialyy when it's brand new. somethings wrong with this vehecle and it's gonna cause some vehicle accidents and/or fatalities, please look into this matter. thanks | |||
