CHILD SEAT

We purchased 6 of these seats, of which we intended on using 4 of them in the rear facing position. attempted to attach with the latch system. after a great deal of time spent going through the owners manual i have been unable to install the seats in the rear position. the first and major concern is that the latch position belt is too short and when it is installed according to the manufactures directions in will squeeze the child in between the position belt and the harness. in my mind, this is a serious safety hazard. i contacted the manufacture and their solution is to cut the position belt. the other concern is that the latch belts are too short also. i tried to install into 2 2008 gm vehicles and due to the construction of the safety seat it requires a great deal of material to level it up. when it is leveled up the latch belts are not long enough to attach to the latch system. the manufacture has not been any help. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I am responsible for purchasing vehicles for our company and we currently have a 2005 and 2008 chevrolet express and we just sold a 2004 and all have the same problem- the instrument cluster panel stops working and we have no speedometer. i have a 2004 blazer with the same problem. the repair is $700 and gm refuses to recall the vehicles for a problem that has been going on since 2002 and of course driving without a speedometer creates a safety issue. *tr
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC

I am 62 years old and self employed. i do appliance service and drive over 25,000 miles every year. i have owned many different vehicles over the years. a year ago i purchased a new 2008 chevrolet g2500 3/4 ton service van. i have never owned any other vehicle where i was more prone to hitting the gas pedal while attempting to apply the brakes. on numerous occasions i have found myself applying both the brakes and gas at the same time. i feel the problems is the close proximity of the two pedals and that they are very close to the same height. i have become very aware of this problem, but find that unless i am extremely alert, it still happens. i fear that at some point, i will find myself in some kind of accident because of this and really am fearful of what may happen if i need to apply the brakes in an emergency situation. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet express 2500. the vehicle was serviced several times due to brake failure. when approaching a stop light, the brakes made a dragging sound that could not be corrected. the contact also heard a knocking sound coming from the vehicle when the brake pedal was depressed. the dealer could not duplicate the failure; however, they cleaned and lubed the brakes. this did not correct the failure. the dealer then replaced the brake pads, discs, and rotors. after two weeks, the brakes failed again and the noise was still present. the vehicle continues to lose braking control and the dealer cannot determine a solution to remedy the failure. the failure mileage was less than 1,000 and current mileage was 7,600. updated 03-04-09 *bf updated 03/04/09. *jb
