Defect SummaryCertain federal-mogul replacement wheel hub assemblies with the brand names: national, carquest p/nos. 515020, 515021, 515025, 515053, 515054, 515059, and 515060, shipped between january 23, 2006, and december 20, 2007, sold for light duty and medium duty trucks. the inboard retention nut used to maintain hub bearing assembly can loosen resulting in an abs light indication, noise, and/or wheel separation.
Consequence SummaryWheel separation can result in a vehicle crash.
Corrective SummaryFederal-mogul will notify customers and will replace the hub assembly free of charge. the recall began on february 7, 2008. owners can contact federal-mogul toll-free at 877-489-6659.

 Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet g1500. while driving 10 mph, the contact noticed a clunking noise coming from the steering column. the steering became loose when maneuvering the vehicle. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the intermediate shaft and bearings failed. the vehicle was repaired. he called the manufacturer and was informed to call nhtsa and file a complaint. the failure mileage was 4,000 and current mileage was 46,000. updated 07/01/09 *bf the consumer stated the steering would get slack in it and a noise would be present every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. the dealership tightened and greased it, but the problem would eventually return. the intermediate shaft was replaced along with the idler arms, pitman arms and seals. the sun roof glass track was cracking, the exhaust was leaking, the differential was leaking, the driveshaft fell out of the vehicle. updated 07/02/09.*jb
