| Proceeding at normal speed on hwy 14. the check engine light illuminated followed by an illumination of the traction control light. there was a loud pop sound emanating from the front the the vehicle. at this point the engine stopped running and i pulled to the side of the road. the vehicle was already on fire by the time i reached the side of the freeway. by the time i was able to exit the vehicle the engine compartment was fully involved in fire and within a matter of two or three minutes the remainder of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. i did notice other hhrs have been on fire as shown on the internet and the adjuster stated hhr fires are common. i barely made it out of the car. | |||

| Tl-the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet hhr. the contact stated while driving 70 mph, the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. a message comes across the instrument panel saying motor power reduced; motor shut down. the contact was able to pull to the side of the road and restart the vehicle. the contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic and was diagnosed as having a faulty throttle body. the mechanic replaced the throttle body, but, the repair only remedied the stalling temporarily. the vehicle continued to stall so the contact called the manufacturer. the manufacturer informed the contact of a gm recall for the pcm, but her vin was not included in the recall. the contact stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive. the failure mileage was 99,000. tlb | |||

| Tl- the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet hhr. the contact stated that she purchased the vehicle approximately three months ago. she stated that when she went to start the vehicle it would not turn over or start. it was towed to a local repair shop and they advised they could not repair it. the vehicle was then towed to another local repair shop and the mechanic informed the owner the ignition needed to be reprogrammed and she needed a new ignition key which would also have to be programmed. the repairs were done at the owners expense of $383.68. the owner then noticed a loud noise and a burning smell. she made it home and noticed the fan had been tampered with at the repair shop. the vehicle is currently at a chevrolet dealer for repairs and they informed the owner the fan and radiator need to be replaced at her expense for approximately $900.00. the failure mileage was approximately 90,000. the current mileage is approximately 90,100. rd | |||

| I bought a 2007 chevy hhr in jan 07 in el dorado ar, i drove to el paso tx within a month of buying it, the day after arriving i was entering the freeway and the car stalled (1000 miles on odometer) after 10 mins i was able to restart. had no other issues until moving to guymon ok, in nov of 08 abs light came on and enroute to the dealer to have repaired, it stalled as i was approaching a stop sign, and same as 1st time, after 10 mins or so it restarted, dealer stated it was probably bad gas, dealer added a fuel additive and reset abs (10801 miles) on feb 24 2009 as i was approaching a stop sign the vehicle once again died (17717 miles), waited 10 mins and restarted, dealer stated it was clogged injectors and cleaned them. on may 11th, 2009 the vehicle once again stalled when approaching a stop sign(18136 miles), after 10 mins restarted. the dealer this time stated it was loose fuses, and a loose battery cable, all were retightened the dealer kept the car for observation for 16 days, on july 6th the same thing happened again while approaching a stop sign the vehicle stalled (19375 miles) and restarted after 10 mins, the dealer stated that it was the cam shaft sensor, and replaced it. on sept 17 2009, while driving down a major hwy slowing for a curve the vehicle stalled after coasting safely to the side (20215 miles), the vehicle would not restart for 20 mins. once again took vehicle to the dealer who has no idea what it could be. this vehicle is starting to do this more and more often and in even more dangerous situations, my wife who was the primary driver for the vehicle will no longer drive it as she is fearful for the safety of our children and herself, as well as those who share the roadways with us. this is a serious problem and needs to be addressed immediately. *tr | |||

| My car stalled on the train tracks on 10/05/08. lucky it started right up. my car is not the only one stalling when are you going to tell gm to recall the car. if it was just my car doing it but it is not. look on automotix, edmunds.com and just look up chevy hhr car stalling. they need to evaluate what is causing this problem. it seems that gm and nhsta don't care and not trying to see what the problem is. what has to be done to get a car recall> *tr | |||

| Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet hhr. the contact stated that the engine has suddenly shut off over 20 times, usually while traveling at any speed on the interstate. the most recent failure occurred while driving 15 mph. she called the dealer from where the vehicle was purchased and was informed that they would take the vehicle back. when she went to turn in the vehicle, the dealer attempted to sell her another vehicle and then refused to take the defective vehicle back. they stated that the cause of the failure was due to corrosion of one of the plugs. they repaired the plug corrosion and some brake issues. the repair lasted for approximately one month before recurring. the vehicle has not been repaired again. the failure mileage was 34,666 and current mileage was 48,000. updated 09/29/08. *lj the gear shift also needed to be replaced. updated 09/29/08. *jb | |||

| Driving home from work my temp light came on & my car started shaking really bad. while driving it cut off & i had to coast to the side of the road. my car never cranked bk up & had to be towed. there was also coolant leaking from the bottom. come to find out there was a defect in my radiator because there is nothing covering it (others may want to check into this). i had to have a new engine put in my car in addition i had a faulty wire to my alternator & had to have both stabilizer links replaced about 4 days after the 1st repair. now when i drive my steering wheel shakes so this will be the 3rd repair. *tr | |||

| While driving in the baltimore harbor tunnel while my parents were following me and were able to use there hazard lights cause a two trucks were behind us my called stalled in the tunnel while going 60 miles an hour. if my parents were not behind me i would of got hit again. gm just don't care and if you the nhtsa see that there is a real problem with this car why don't you recall this car. my car has stalled over 100 times. what have you done to find out what is the problem or have you contact gm for them to recall this car. or just someone has to die or have a serious injury before you do anything. you all just don't care or what you are getting paid by gm to not recall it. there are 63 complaints breaks, stalling, shift problems. what are the qualifications for recall? just an accident, injury, death, lost of limb? the director of nhtsa consumer complaints is aware of the problem cause i have made you a ware of this issue before over 5 months and so far you have not recall this car. if you just search the internet for complaints of 2007 chevy hhr and you will find not just my car numerous of cars with brakes, stalling , shift , shimmering problems. so what makes you different from gm and white chevrolet of roanoke rapids, the better business bureau,the department of consumer affairs? nothing. you suppose to put car on the roads that are safe nationally. that is your title but you fail with flying color, due to the fact this car is on the road. how many complaints did it take for the visor and the door latch to be recall? 1 or 2. since you don't have the power to override gm. my sister just died and i am scared my parents might be going to another funeral cause i can't afford another car. *tr | |||

| I own a 2007 hhr (mileage 10753). it is easy to drive, is roomy and economical to operate. i had a very scary experience last evening while driving the hhr on an expressway in traffic. the motor shut off completely. the lights, radio, etc continued to work properly. the warning message was engine power reduced. i made it to the side of the road. the car would not restart. no sounds, clicks, nothing. i waited a few minutes and the car started with an engine warning light on. i got off the highway and had something to eat. i went out and the car started up without an engine warning light. i took it to, holler chevrolet (winter park, fl), this morning. holler chevrolet replaced a chip (pcm) and said it would be fine. mike laing at holler represented both gm and holler with professionalism, skill and dignity. *tr | |||
